CO₂ compensation for air travel

Travel opens doors to the wonders of our world—and at the same time invites us to be responsible for the traces we leave behind.

Every flight generates emissions—that is unavoidable. Worldwide, around 6.5% of greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to travel, a significant proportion of which is due to air traffic. Three-quarters of total tourism emissions are caused by travel to and from destinations alone. Flying in particular therefore leaves a clearly noticeable ecological footprint.

At inventia, we are convinced that the future of travel requires new approaches. This includes the development and use of climate-friendly alternatives such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and other innovative solutions. Until such solutions are widely available, we are already enabling you to offset the emissions from your flights through carefully vetted climate protection projects.

Your path to CO₂ compensation

Here's how it works: We calculate how many kilograms of CO₂ will be released during your outbound and return flights. You then have the option of investing an amount in a climate protection project that binds or avoids the same amount of CO₂ from the atmosphere —for example, through the construction of solar power systems, efficient cooking stoves, or reforestation projects.

But you already know us as down-to-earth partners who don't pull the wool over your eyes—here, too, we speak openly and honestly about how things really are: compensation only offsets the actual environmental impact to a limited extent.

Many compensation projects take years or decades to achieve their full effect. Scientific studies also show that not all projects achieve the desired effect. We therefore want to be clear: CO₂ compensation can be part of the solution, but it does not replace the need to reduce overall emissions.

CO₂ calculator: Calculate and offset

Calculate the emissions of your planned trip now and voluntarily offset them through a certified climate protection project. After your payment, you will receive a donation receipt that you can use to claim your support for tax purposes.

Where your contribution goes

Our partners, atmosfair, focus on high-quality projects that not only reduce emissions but also bring about social and ecological improvements in the respective regions. atmosfair exclusively supports projects with CDM Gold Standard certification—one of the highest international quality awards for climate protection. This means that the projects comply with the recommendations of the German Federal Environment Agency for credible compensation.

You can find more information about the supported projects here: atmosfair climate protection projects.

We would like to thank you very much for your responsibility and your decision to contribute to climate protection.

Best regards,
Your inventia team
