MS Sjoveien
A classic ship with a modern touch
The M/S Sjøveien (The Sea Way) was built in Bergen in 1964 for the Norwegian government and has performed various tasks over the years. From 1979 to 1995, it served as a training ship for sailors. Since becoming privately owned in 1995, it has performed tasks for the Norwegian Coast Guard and, more recently, has also served as a hotel ship. After extensive renovations, the M/S Sjøveien began a new chapter as a classic and exclusive passenger ship in Svalbard in the summer of 2017. It is a true beauty with wooden decks and classic details. There is plenty of space on the main deck and an excellent area on the bridge from which to enjoy wonderful views of Svalbard's magnificent landscape. Guests can also enjoy a unique experience in the wood-fired hot tub on deck.
The ship can accommodate a maximum of 12 passengers in eight outside cabins, all of which are equipped with private bathrooms. There are four double cabins with portholes on the lower deck. On the main deck, there are two larger twin cabins with windows and one superior cabin with a double bed and windows. On the upper deck, there is also a large superior cabin with windows. Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are served in the dining room on the main deck. The ship also has a lounge area where you can relax with a cup of tea or coffee and attend lectures by the tour guides. An international crew welcomes passengers, and the bridge is open to visitors. The M/S Sjøveien has two Zodiacs and two knowledgeable expedition guides.
