Day 1: Flight to Canada

Today you'll fly across the Atlantic to Vancouver. Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Vancouver – City of Diversity

Today, you’ll discover one of Canada’s most exciting cities on a city tour. You’ll see highlights such as Stanley Park with its collection of totem poles, trendy Robson Street, Canada Place with its cruise terminal, Chinatown, and Granville Island. After the city tour, do as the Vancouverites do and take the Seabus across Vancouver Harbor to reach your hotel. (B)

Day 3: Off to Vancouver Island!

A one-hour flight takes you from the city of Vancouver to Port Hardy in the north of Vancouver Island. This charming hotel is owned by Indigenous people and was named by the elders of the Gwa’sala-Nakwaxda’xw people. Enjoy the hospitality and local art throughout the building. (FA)

Day 4: Cormorant Island

You’ll explore the natural and cultural history of the wild northern part of Vancouver Island. Highlights include a trip to the Namgis community of Alert Bay on Cormorant Island, featuring a private guided tour of the U’mista Cultural Center. After a walk through the reserve, you’ll board the MV Cascadia! The friendly crew will welcome you with a cocktail, followed by dinner. (FA)

Day 5: From Coal Harbor to Quatsino Sound

After breakfast, you’ll leave Coal Harbor and set out on a long voyage: In Holberg Inlet, you’ll head toward Quatsino Narrows. Here, you’ll experience the landscape on both sides up close—the passage is only 250 m wide in some places! On the Pacific Ocean, you’ll cruise along the breathtaking, rugged coastline of Brooks Bay and reach the calm waters of Klaskish Inlet in the evening. Here, your ship will anchor for the night. Day 6: Among Bears and Puffins

In the morning, you’ll explore East Creek by dinghy and keep an eye out for majestic black bears. Your tour guides will explain the lush vegetation of the estuary. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the unique Solander Island Reserve, where you’ll have the chance to observe sea lions and large colonies of breeding seabirds. A welcome guest here: the colorful puffin (Fratercula arctica). In the evening, you’ll anchor in Nasparti Inlet and have time before dinner to explore the beautiful white-sand beach. (FMA)

Day 7: The Return of the Sea Otters

A hike through the temperate rainforest takes you into a fairy-tale-like setting filled with hanging gardens of moss and lichen. Here, you’ll marvel at the giant thuja trees and Sitka spruce and learn about the importance of these forests. After lunch, tenders will take you to the Bunsby Islands. Sea otters were reintroduced here in the 1960s, and with a little luck, you’ll be able to witness the result of this wonderful comeback story for yourself. In the village of Kyuquot, you’ll meet a Native Alaskan family and take part in a traditional salmon bake on the beach, where salmon is grilled over an open fire. (FMA)

Day 8: Untouched Nature in the North

Today, you’ll cruise north along the continental shelf, spotting sea otters along the way and keeping an eye out for humpback whales and orcas. In the afternoon, you can stretch your legs on one of the world-famous beaches at the northern tip of Vancouver Island. In the sheltered anchorage of Shushartie Bay, you’ll go in search of the impressive black bears. In the evening, if you’d like, you can use one of the kayaks on board to explore the estuary. (FMA)

Day 9: Sea Lions and Legends

You’ll cross the Queen Charlotte Strait to reach a large sea lion colony, which you’ll explore by dinghy. During lunch, you’ll sail deeper into the Broughton Archipelago. This is home to British Columbia’s largest marine park. Dozens of undeveloped islands offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. In the southern part of the archipelago, the crew will look for a quiet anchorage for the night. (FMA)

Day 10: The Humpback Whales of Blackney Passage

In the tranquil Blackney Passage, you’ll set out in search of humpback whales, sea lions, and orcas. In Telegraph Cove, a picturesque community in the northeast of Vancouver Island, you’ll meet local whale researchers and take a walking tour of the historic town. In Port Neville, the MV Cascadia will anchor for the night. (FMA)

Day 11: Devil’s Hole in the Dent Rapids

As you head south, you’ll discover an incredible hydrological phenomenon: Devil’s Hole near Dent Rapids. Here, the current creates a natural whirlpool that is biologically very rich due to the strong fluctuation of the nutrient-rich water. A wide variety of wildlife, including seabirds and sea lions, can be found here. Before dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to explore culturally significant petroglyphs. (FMA)

Day 12: The Bears of Brem River

After breakfast, you’ll cruise up the Brem River to watch bears. While a wonderful lunch awaits you on board, you’ll sail out of Toba Inlet and into Homfray Channel. The tenders will take you toward Prideaux Haven. This popular cove in Desolation Sound offers magnificent hiking trails set amid fascinating natural scenery. The MV Cascadia will dock for the night in Tenedos Cove. In the evening, you’re welcome to use the kayaks for exploration trips if you’d like. (FMA)

Day 13: Mitlenatch Island Provincial Nature Park

A morning walk to Unwin Lake kicks off your day before you leave Tenedos Bay. Mitlenatch Island Nature Provincial Park is home to incredible wildlife and offers no shortage of breathtaking views of Mitlenatch Island. You’ll set course for your final anchorage in the Copeland Islands, where you can enjoy an exciting dinghy ride. Your warm and welcoming crew will serve you a festive farewell dinner. (FMA)

Day 14: Farewell to the Cascadia

The MV Cascadia sets sail for Campbell River. On board, you’ll be served a brunch just the way they love it on Canada’s West Coast. After saying goodbye to your friendly crew, you’ll continue your journey with a culinary tour through the Cowichan Valley, where you’ll visit a winery and taste Vancouver Island’s exclusive wines. Your trip ends in Victoria, the historic capital of British Columbia. After checking in at the hotel, you’ll have free time to explore the picturesque inner harbor and the Old Town. (B, snacks)

Day 15: Farewell to Vancouver Island

You have just completed a special and unique journey. A shuttle will take you to the airport in Victoria, where you will board your return flight. (F)
