The final chapter is set in the south: After returning from the Pacific, your transfer will take you to the Rosario Valley that same evening, where you’ll stay at the country house of a biodynamic winery, go horseback riding among the vineyards, and sample the estate’s wine-pairing menus at the on-site restaurant. You’ll travel to all destinations privately, with your own guide and private transfers; on Rapa Nui, a guide is required for visiting the sites within the national park anyway.

11 days / 10 nights | Santiago, Rapa Nui, and the Rosario Valley
Day 1 | Individual travel to Santiago, Chile
You’ll arrive on your own; we’d be happy to book your flights for you. In Santiago, your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall, and as the city passes by outside the window, the Andes mountain range will gradually come into view behind the rooftops.
Your home for the first few nights is in the Lastarria arts district; there are three houses to choose from. Depending on your arrival time, you may have time for a first stroll past cafés, galleries, and art dealers’ stalls.
Day 2 | Exploring Santiago on Foot and by Cable Car
Today you’ll mingle with the locals: by metro, on foot, right in the thick of it. Your guide—who can speak German upon request—will lead you across the Plaza de Armas, with its cathedral, to the La Moneda Presidential Palace, and the longer you walk, the more clearly the city reveals its two faces: colonial facades below, glass towers above, and the Andes in the background.
To wrap up your visit, take the cable car—which runs daily except Mondays—up to Cerro San Cristóbal. At the top, the white statue of the Virgin Mary stands watch, and the sea of houses stretches all the way to the Andes mountain range. Those who prefer the comfort of a car can opt for the classic city tour instead, which includes the bohemian Bellavista neighborhood with its street art.
Day 3 | Valparaíso and Viña del Mar
The road to the Pacific winds through the lush Curacaví Valley, and the moment you catch your first glimpse of the bay, it becomes clear why UNESCO has designated Valparaíso a World Heritage Site: colorful houses cascade down the hills of the port city all the way to the water’s edge. You’ll wander through the narrow streets of Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, ride one of the historic elevators, and follow the street art that tells stories across entire walls here.
In the elegant seaside resort of Viña del Mar, the famous flower clock is in full bloom, and the Pacific breeze blows along the coastal promenade; there’s time for lunch by the water, at your own expense. On the way back, your driver will stop at Reñaca Beach if you wish, and you’ll return to Santiago in the late afternoon.
Day 4 | Flight to Rapa Nui
Your flight from Santiago will land at Mataveri Airport, just a few minutes from the island town of Hanga Roa. You’ll be greeted with a traditional flower lei, and then your private driver will take you to the hotel.
The rest of the day is yours to enjoy: The small church in Hanga Roa combines Catholic and indigenous symbolism, and right next door, the local market and museum showcase Rapa Nui crafts and history.
Day 5 | Moai, the quarry, and Anakena Beach
This full-day excursion, lasting about eight hours, takes you to the island’s major sites. Traveling along the south coast, you’ll first stop at Hanga Te’e Bay near Ahu Vaihu, where fallen moai still lie just as time left them, and at the unrestored Akahanga, which, according to legend, is associated with the burial site of the first king, Hotu Matu’a.
At the Rano Raraku volcano, you’ll enter the quarry where nearly all of the island’s moai were carved: 397 statues in various stages of completion line the slopes. Right next to it, the fifteen moai of Ahu Tongariki stand in a row facing the Pacific Ocean. Passing through Te Pito o te Henua, the “Navel of the World,” and Ahu Te Pito Kura, you’ll finally reach the white beach of Anakena with the moai of Ahu Nau Nau; there, you’ll have time for a swim in the warm Pacific Ocean. Your boxed lunch will be served along the way.
Day 6 | Orongo and the Birdman Cult
The half-day excursion, lasting about three and a half hours, leads up to Rano Kau, whose massive crater holds a shimmering freshwater lake. Perched on the crater’s rim is the ceremonial village of Orongo: stone houses and petroglyphs here tell the story of the competition for the first egg laid by the sooty tern—a contest that once determined the island’s spiritual leadership—with a view of the three offshore motu islands.
On the way back, you’ll see the astonishingly precise masonry of Ahu Vinapu and the small cove of Hanga Piko with the restored Ahu Riata; with a little luck, you might spot a sea turtle there. The afternoon is yours to enjoy.
Day 7 | Ahu Akivi and the Night of the Moai Dance
In the morning, on a half-day excursion lasting about three and a half hours, you’ll stand before the seven moai of Ahu Akivi, the only ones on the island that face the sea; according to legend, they represent the seven scouts sent ahead by King Hotu Matu’a. The tour continues to the unrestored Ahu of Hanga Poukura and the Puna Pau quarry, where the red volcanic rock used to create the pukao—the Moai’s characteristic headdresses—was sourced. The tour concludes at the Tahai ceremonial site, home to the only Moai with reconstructed eyes.
In the evening, the highlight of this trip awaits: Moai art and Moai dance. Over a festive dinner, the Rapa Nui will share their vibrant traditions with you, from powerful Polynesian dance to the island’s famous woodcarving.
Day 8 | One Last Look at the Moai
Depending on your departure time, you’ll have time for one last stroll along the waterfront in Hanga Roa in the morning, and then you’ll board your return flight to Santiago de Chile.
At the airport, you’ll hop right into the car, and about two and a half hours later, vineyards will replace the ocean on the hills: you’ll be in the Rosario Valley, and a glass of wine will be waiting to welcome you at La Casona.
Days 9 and 10 | In the Rosario Valley: Vineyards, Sattel, and the Coast of the Poets
For two days, the valley sets the pace. After the breakfast buffet, the biodynamic tour takes you along the sensory trail through the garden and wine cellar, culminating in a tasting of the estate’s Corralillo and EQ wines. In the evening, the estate’s restaurant, Equilibrio, pulls out all the stops: one three-course meal paired with two glasses of Corralillo, and one five-course meal with wines paired with each dish.
In between, the choice is yours. Maybe tomorrow morning you’ll be in the saddle, following a Huaso through the vineyards, cycling along the Rosario Creek, or climbing Montecristo Hill. There are also two excursions that will take you into the region—for example, to Pablo Neruda’s house overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Isla Negra, or to see the flocks of birds in the Río Maipo wetlands.
Day 11 | Farewell to the Weintal Valley
One last breakfast at La Casona, one last look out over the vineyards, and then your transfer will take you to the Santiago de Chile airport in about two and a half hours for your individual return flight.

In terms of location, there’s hardly anything better on the island: The resort is situated right on the coast of Hanga Roa, just a few minutes’ walk from town and only one kilometer from the airport; the hotel staff will pick you up there. You can walk along the waterfront for hours, past surfers and local families. The resort is specifically designed to cater to both couples and families.

This small boutique hotel is located on Avenida Hotu Matu’a in Hanga Roa, just about a five-minute drive from the airport; restaurants, shops, and the waterfront are easily accessible, and in the evening, a free shuttle will take you to the village upon request.

Three categories, whose names are derived from the island’s Rongo-Rongo script, all featuring handcrafted furniture, warm colors, and a terrace: The Koia Deluxe Rooms(“he or she,” 34 to 38 m²) open onto the garden. This day on the Pacific coast brings together two very different neighboring cities: the wild, colorful Valparaíso, whose hills you can climb on foot or via the historic elevators, and the elegant seaside resort of Viña del Mar, with its floral clock and coastal promenade.
Your driver and guide will accompany you throughout the day. You’ll pay for lunch by the sea on your own, and if you’d like, the day will end with a stop at Reñaca Beach.
Your Activities on Easter Island
These experiences can be added to your itinerary for an additional fee. Upon request, we can also provide you with a private driver and guide for half a day or a full day, at your convenience.
Moai carving with the artist (for an additional fee)
At a Rapa Nui artist’s home, you’ll learn how a wooden moai is created. You’ll discover the tools the ancestors used, choose your piece of wood, and begin carving until your own little moai takes shape.
Tools, wood, and materials are provided, and you get to take your artwork home with you. Since the moai were created exclusively on Rapa Nui, this is an experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Transportation to the artist’s studio is included; suitable for ages 12 and up.
Sunrise at Ahu Tongariki (additional fee, approx. 2 hours)
Before sunrise, your private guide will take you to the large platform: Behind the fifteen moai of Ahu Tongariki, the sky over the Pacific begins to lighten until the silhouettes are bathed in the first light of day. It is one of the most peaceful and impressive moments on the island.
Boat trip to the Motu Islands (additional charge, approx. 2 hours)
From Hanga Piko Harbor, you’ll take a boat out to the three offshore islands of Motu Nui, Motu Iti, and Motu Kao Kao. From the water, you’ll look up at the ceremonial village of Orongo.
Participants in the Birdman Race once had to swim to Motu Nui to retrieve the first egg laid by the sooty tern. Afterward, the boat takes you back to the harbor at Hanga Piko.
Horseback ride to Terevaka (additional fee, approx. 3 hours)
On horseback, you’ll ride from Hanga Roa along the west coast to the Ahu Akivi area and on up to Maunga Terevaka, the highest point on the island. At the top, you’ll take a break and enjoy the panoramic view of all of Rapa Nui and the surrounding Pacific Ocean before riding back to Hanga Roa.
Hike to Rano Kau & Orongo (additional fee, approx. 5 hours)
On foot instead of by car: This guided hike takes you at a moderate pace up to the Rano Kau crater, with its shimmering freshwater lake, and on to the ceremonial village of Orongo, featuring the petroglyphs of the Birdman cult. A snack is included; be sure to pack sturdy shoes, a windbreaker, and sunscreen.
Coastal hike along the north coast (additional fee, approx. 7 hours)
The Grand Loop along the North Coast: Starting from the area around Roiho and Ahu Akivi, you’ll hike along the pristine north and west coasts, past unrestored ahu and petroglyphs, all the way to Anakena Beach, where a swim in the warm Pacific awaits. About six hours through one of the island’s most secluded corners; for experienced hikers in good physical condition—your private guide will accompany you.
Hike along the South Coast & Poike (additional fee, approx. 7 hours)
On the south coast, the hike begins at the unrestored Ahu Vaihu platform in Hanga Te’e Bay. Follow the ancient Ara o te Maoi trail to reach the Rano Raraku quarry.
From there, the journey continues to the Poike Peninsula, home to the island’s oldest volcano. You’ll climb up to Vai a Heva, a massive face carved into the rock, whose open mouth once collected rainwater.
Hike up Mount Terevaka (additional fee, approx. 4 hours)
From Hanga Roa, the trail leads to the ruins of the old sheep farm at Vai Tea, then begins the ascent of about 500 meters in elevation to Maunga Terevaka, the island’s youngest and highest volcano. From the summit, the view stretches in all directions over the coast and the ocean; there’s nothing but sea all around, and you feel as though you’re standing on the most remote island in the world.
Cave hike to the lava tunnels (additional fee, approx. 4 hours)
Near Ahu Akivi, the hike to the island's lava caves begins. First, you'll reach Ana Te Pahu, the Banana Cave, with its vast lava tunnels.
Further along toward the coast lies Ana Kakenga, the Cave of the Two Windows: With a flashlight, you make your way through the narrow, rocky passage until two natural openings onto the sea come into view, offering a sweeping vista of the ocean and cliffs.
Your Activities in the Rosario Valley
Your stay at La Casona includes the biodynamic tour, as well as two activities in the valley and two excursions in the region of your choice. You can decide on the spot, depending on your preferences and the weather.
Biodynamic Winery Tour (included, approx. 2.5 hours)
The tour is an integral part of your stay and takes you to the heart of biodynamic viticulture: You’ll follow the sensory trail through the biodynamic garden and on to the wine cellar. Along the way, you’ll see how the biodynamic preparations used to strengthen the estate’s vines are made, and how this work transforms into the estate’s wines.
To wrap up, you'll take part in a guided tasting of two Corralillo wines and two EQ wines. The tour takes place daily.
Horseback ride with a Huaso (optional, approx. 2.5 hours)
You’ll ride accompanied by a Huaso, Chile’s traditional horseman, whose connection to the land is evident with every step. Following gentle trails, you’ll reach several lookouts offering views across the entire valley; then the landscape opens up to hills covered in vineyards and vast meadows.
The horseback ride is one of the two valley activities of your choice and is suitable for children ages 11 and up.
Bike tour through the valley (optional, approx. 2.5 hours)
On your bike, you'll follow the course of the El Rosario Stream through open meadows and native forest. The route showcases the landscape that gives the valley's wines their character.

Hike up Montecristo Hill (optional, approx. 2.5 to 3 hours)
The trail up Montecristo winds through the native flora and fauna to a lookout point from which you can take in the full breadth of the Rosario Valley. In the gorge lies the highlight of the hike: a majestic Chilean palm, strictly protected and native only to this part of the world.
If you'd like, you can bike from the house to the starting point. This hike is one of the two valley activities of your choice.
Pitio Trail (optional, approx. 1.5 hours)
The shorter of the two hikes takes you deep into the valley’s birdlife and the evergreen hard-leaved forest, home to boldo, litre, and soapbark trees. Dry slopes, cool gorges, and open areas alternate, and the valley’s birds make frequent appearances.

Pablo Neruda's House in Isla Negra (optional, approx. 3.5 hours)
On the Coast of Poets, you’ll visit one of Chile’s national monuments: Pablo Neruda’s house in Isla Negra, perched high above the Pacific Ocean, whose vastness served as the backdrop for his poetry. You’ll explore the poet’s collections and stand at the gravesite where Neruda and his wife are laid to rest.
The audio guide also provides a tour of the house in German; transportation and admission are included. Visits are available Tuesday through Sunday and count toward the two regional excursions of your choice.
Bird Paradise in the Maipo Wetlands (optional, approx. 3.5 hours)
More than 190 bird species have been recorded in the nature park at the mouth of the Río Maipo near Santo Domingo—more than anywhere else in central Chile. You’ll traverse the park’s habitats on wooden boardwalks; the park is one of the best-equipped bird-watching destinations in the country.
The excursion is available Tuesday through Sunday; the park is closed in March. Transportation is included. It counts as one of the two regional excursions of your choice.
Tour and tasting at two wineries (included as an option, approx. 3.5 hours)
From the estate, you’ll travel to two more outstanding wineries in the Casablanca and San Antonio valleys, including Casa Marín, Attilio Mocci, and Kingston Family. Through guided tastings, you’ll discover the styles, methods, and philosophies that round out the picture of Chilean wine.
Transportation, guided tours, and tastings are included. The excursion takes place Tuesday through Sunday and counts as one of the two regional excursions of your choice.
On your own (including at any time)
In between activities, you’re free to do as you please: take a stroll through the orchard, hike on your own along the valley’s trails, or order a “wine flight”—a small selection of the house wines—and taste them at your own pace.

How do I get to this package tour?
You’ll fly to Santiago de Chile on your own; we’d be happy to book your international flights and the flights to Easter Island for you. Once you arrive in Santiago, all transfers for the trip are already arranged.
Do I need any special entry documents?
A valid passport is required for Chile. For Rapa Nui, you must also fill out an entry form in advance; we will prepare all the necessary documents for you. The German Foreign Office publishes up-to-date travel and safety advisories for Chile; regulations may vary for other nationalities, so please contact us.
Can I book this trip year-round?
Yes. As a private tour, it can be scheduled individually at any time of year. We’ll coordinate the start of the trip with the dates of the “Moai Art and Moai Dance” evening shows.
Are the tours privately guided?
Yes, at all three stops. In Santiago, a German-speaking guide is available upon request; on Rapa Nui and in the Rosario Valley, English-speaking guides will accompany you. You can customize the order and pace of the tour to suit your preferences.
How do I get from the airport to the Rosario Valley?
After your return flight from Easter Island, your private transfer will be waiting for you at the Santiago airport and will take you directly to the winery in about two and a half hours. The return transfer to the airport is also included.
What can I expect at the winery?
You’ll be staying at La Casona, the biodynamic winery’s boutique hotel with just ten rooms. Included are the biodynamic tour with wine tasting, a three-course meal with two glasses of wine, and a five-course meal with wine pairings at the estate restaurant, as well as two activities in the valley and excursions in the region of your choice, such as a visit to Pablo Neruda’s house in Isla Negra.

In Santiago, you can choose from three boutique hotels in the city center; on Easter Island, you can choose from four hotels, ranging from traditional boutique hotels to designer lodges. In the Rosario Valley, you’ll stay at La Casona, part of the winery. We’d be happy to help you make your choice.

Very good, in fact. You can always add extra nights on Rapa Nui or in the Weintal, and on the mainland, the Atacama Desert or Patagonia are great options for continuing your trip. We’ll tailor your desired extension to your individual needs.
