Day 1 Welcome to Al Ándalus!

You will be welcomed in Seville in the morning. The capital of Andalusia boasts the largest historic city center in Spain. After lunch, you will take a panoramic tour of the city before heading to the train station to board the Al Ándalus. Once on board, the crew will warmly welcome you and show you to your compartment. Dinner will be served in the dining car as the train makes its way to Córdoba. (D)

Day 2: Jerez de la Frontera – Cádiz – Jerez

After breakfast on board, you’ll visit the massive Mosque-Cathedral in Córdoba and continue your tour through the former capital of the medieval Emirate and Caliphate of Al-Ándalus—once the largest, most cultured, and most opulent city in Western Europe! Lunch will be served on board en route to Jerez. From Jerez, you’ll visit Cádiz in the afternoon, popularly known as the “Silver Cup” and famed as the oldest city in the West. (FMA)

Day 3: Jerez – Zafra

Since Jerez de la Frontera is world-famous as the birthplace of sherry, a tasting at a bodega is, of course, a must today. The breeding of thoroughbred horses is equally significant. You’ll have the chance to watch the noble Andalusian horses perform at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. The journey continues to Zafra, where your train will stop overnight. (FMA)

Day 4: From Zafra via Cáceres to Mérida

While you’re having breakfast, your train will arrive in Cáceres. It’s no wonder the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site—its streets, squares, and palaces are exceptionally well-preserved, and the colorful mix of cultures creates a unique atmosphere. Lunch on board, followed by a journey to Mérida, where relics of the ancient Roman Empire serve as a reminder of its glorious past. Founded in 25 BC, this city is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day 5: Mérida – Alcázar de San Juan

While you enjoy your breakfast, the train arrives in Alcázar de San Juan in the Castile-La Mancha region, internationally renowned for its fine wine and cheese production. Here, you’ll visit a cheese factory and a wine cellar. After lunch, you’ll visit Campo de Criptana with its characteristic windmill landscape, which inspired Cervantes to write his novel Don Quixote. Then it’s back to Alcázar de San Juan. (FMA)

Day 6: Alcázar de San Juan – Toledo – Aranjuez

In the morning, continue on to Aranjuez. From there, visit Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and once Europe’s most monumental imperial city. The blend of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish architecture—featuring masterpieces such as the Gothic cathedral, the 10th-century mosque, and two synagogues—gives Toledo its unique character. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and its gardens, where Schiller’s Don Carlos once spent many happy days. (FMA)

Day 7: Aranjuez – Madrid

After a hearty breakfast aboard the Al Ándalus, you’ll say goodbye to the crew. Your eventful journey will finally come to an end around late afternoon. (B)
