The Berner Oberland Railway takes you to Lauterbrunnen. A short cable car ride takes you up to Grütschalp at an altitude of about 1,500 meters. Here, a scenic ride on the mountain railway awaits you, taking you across to wintry Mürren. Enjoy a stroll through the former Walser settlement and the impressive views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Mürren, at the foot of the Schilthorn, is a popular vacation destination—in both summer and winter. The town became famous thanks to the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. At the summit, 2,970 meters above sea level, you can not only enjoy the breathtaking 360° panoramic view of over 200 Alpine peaks from the revolving restaurant but also immerse yourself in the adventures of the most famous of all agents at Spyworld. After the descent, you’ll travel by bus and train via Interlaken to the small village of Habkern. Here, at the Bernatone Alphorn Workshop, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the construction of Switzerland’s national instrument and conclude your eventful day with a delicious cheese fondue before returning to Interlaken. Take the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway from Brig on a steep climb up to Zermatt. The journey covers more than 1,000 meters in elevation. No sooner have you reached the famous town than the journey continues on to the Gornergrat, at an elevation of 3,089 meters. From the valley station, the cogwheel railway runs for just under 10 km, with gradients of up to 20%, up to the No. 1 viewpoint in the canton of Valais.
