The Berner Oberland Railway takes you to Lauterbrunnen. A short cable car ride takes you up to Grütschalp at an altitude of about 1,500 meters. After the descent, you’ll travel by bus and train via Interlaken to the small village of Habkern. Take the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway from Brig on a steep climb up to Zermatt. The journey covers more than 1,000 meters in elevation. No sooner have you reached the famous town than the journey continues on to the Gornergrat, at an elevation of 3,089 meters. From the valley station, the cogwheel railway runs for just under 10 km, with gradients of up to 20%, up to the No. 1 viewpoint in the canton of Valais.
