Hans Hansson
14 days (13 nights) Antarctic expedition along the Antarctic Peninsula, including charter flight from/to Punta Arenas via the Drake Passage to King George Island.
++ 17% last-minute discount on the last 3 cabins on December 20, 2025 – January 3, 2026 ++
The journey begins in Punta Arenas, an important port city in southern Chile, and continues by plane to King George Island. The flight over the Drake Passage allows direct arrival in the Antarctic region and saves the often challenging sea crossing.
After landing on King George Island, you will transfer from the beach to the motor vessel via Zodiac. This is where the two-week expedition along the West Antarctic Peninsula begins. The exploration area stretches from the South Shetland Islands to the Lemaire Channel and covers approximately 600 nautical miles.
Immense glaciers and majestic icebergs shape the landscape, while penguin colonies, sea lion families, and numerous whale species characterize the region's wildlife.
The return flight from King George Island to Punta Arenas marks the end of this unique journey to one of the most remote and impressive regions in the world.

Questions & Answers
I'm not a sailor—is that okay?
How will I know what to bring?
How is Antarctica explored?
While you are in Antarctica, your yacht will serve as your base camp. Some days you will travel, others you will stay put—depending on the weather and your own interests. If you particularly like a place, stay an extra day! That's the advantage of traveling on a small yacht.
As soon as you drop anchor, the Zodiacs are launched to explore the surroundings. On land, you can move around freely, discover the area, hike, and enjoy long shore leave to experience the remoteness of Antarctica. As a small group of friends, you can make the most of everything Antarctica has to offer!
Kayaks are also available, which can be used to experience the surroundings up close—at no extra cost!
What's for dinner?
On board, you will enjoy hearty, well-prepared, delicious, homemade meals. Lunch often consists of warm soups and sandwiches, while dinner is the main meal of the day and can be very varied depending on the preferences of the chef and crew. The food can be described as healthy and wholesome. Snacks are also available throughout the day, along with water for coffee or tea. If you have any special snacks or teas that you can't do without, we recommend bringing them with you.
The goal of this expedition is to spend quality time in Antarctica, making the most of the program with long and exclusive landings and a limited number of passengers ashore. This is a true expedition cruise, not a "culinary" cruise.
Passengers with special dietary requirements:
The chefs will do their best to meet your needs, but we also ask for your flexibility and understanding.
Is there internet on board?
I have seen other yachts/cruise ships at a lower price:
I am a photographer—is this trip suitable for me?
This trip is ideal for photographers, especially those looking for the perfect shot and ideal lighting. The small group size offers you incredible flexibility. You will receive support in taking great photos and getting the most out of the weather and lighting!
Since you are traveling in a small boat, the deck is very close to the wildlife – there is no need to transfer to Zodiacs. In addition, the shore excursions last several hours, so you can wait for the perfect shot and light.
What are the cabins like?
Will I get seasick?
Everyone is a little different, but we strongly recommend bringing some seasickness tablets with you. We usually take them preventively.
Is it dangerous to sail to Antarctica on a yacht?
Yachts on the Antarctic Peninsula have a very good track record. This is because the ships place a high priority on safety. Safety is a central component of this business. Every decision that is made is based on a risk assessment. Crossing the Drake Passage can indeed be dangerous. Sailing in Antarctica could also be dangerous. On the other hand, crossing the street can also be dangerous—cars rush by at 100 km/h. But just as you take precautions when crossing the street, the crew takes extreme precautions when cruising.
The weather is constantly monitored. It is a certified vessel, which means that all safety regulations must be observed. There are strict requirements regarding the use of life jackets. However, this also means that everyone on board must use their own judgment. But if you follow the captain's instructions, you are in good hands.
Is alcohol permitted on board?
Yes! When you are underway and the weather is potentially stormy, no alcohol is served, as this is not in the interests of either the crew or the guests for safety reasons. However, when sailing is calm or the ship is safely moored in a bay for the night, enjoy a nice glass of Argentine Malbec or Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon with your meals. Beer and gin and tonics with glacier ice are also available for happy hour!
Alcohol consumption is at the captain's discretion, and drunkenness will not be tolerated.
When do I need to arrive in Punta Arenas to catch the flight to Antarctica?
You must arrive in Punta Arenas 36 hours before departure to Antarctica. The reason for this is that the flight may be brought forward due to unfavorable weather conditions. It could also happen that one of your pieces of luggage does not arrive on time and is delayed somewhere. If you arrive earlier, you will have enough time to wait for it.
On the evening before the flight, you will all meet in the crew office for a safety briefing, where you will be explained how the charter flight to Antarctica works, what time it is expected to depart (there is no fixed departure time as the flight is weather-dependent), and what you can expect on the day of the flight.
