Antarctica Bridge expedition

Day 1: Arrival in Santiago

Your journey to remote Antarctica begins in Santiago. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated in a comfortable hotel, providing the perfect opportunity to rest from your journey and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Nestled between the majestic Andes Mountains and Chile's fertile Central Valley, Santiago combines modern elegance with a rich cultural heritage. Take the time to explore the city: visit the iconic Cerro San Cristóbal, which offers breathtaking views of the metropolis, or stroll through the charming streets of the artistic Bellavista district.

In the evening, you can enjoy the famous Chilean cuisine in one of the city's excellent restaurants before retiring to your hotel. The next day, your journey begins with a flight to Puerto Williams – the gateway to Antarctica and the starting point of your unforgettable expedition.

Day 3: Flight to Antarctica & Embarkation

You will fly in business class to King George Island, where you will be welcomed by the crew of the expedition ship.

King George Island is the largest and most hospitable island and is home to most of the research stations – some of which are populated by small crews all year round. But don't be fooled, these islands offer extraordinary experiences in one of the most remote places in the world. The island is home to various species of penguins and seals, such as chinstrap penguins, elephant seals, and fur seals.

With an area of 1,150 km², King George Island is the largest of the South Shetland Islands. As one of the islands closest to South America and located only about 120 kilometers from the Antarctic Peninsula, King George Island was first sighted by William Smith in 1819 and named after George III, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and King of Hanover. Although nearly 90 percent of the island’s surface is covered by ice and glaciers, 10 different nations have established permanent bases or stations on the Fildes Peninsula, along the coast of Maxwell Bay, and in Admiralty Bay. Although the island has so many stations and base personnel, it also has other summer residents that are regularly associated with Antarctica: Adélie, chinstrap, and gentoo penguins. Weddell and leopard seals can be seen in the water or along the coast, and seabirds such as the giant petrel are never far away.

Days 5-7: Antarctic Peninsula

The Antarctic Peninsula winds its way up towards South America, beckoning all intrepid adventurers who dare to explore this untamed realm. Stretching from the heart of the world's southernmost continent, the Antarctic Peninsula lies just 620 miles from Tierra del Fuego and offers many a spectacular first glimpse of the snow-covered landscapes and colossal ice sculptures that make up the least explored continent on Earth.

Undiscovered by humans until 1820—a relatively brief moment in human history—this is an experience where you will feel the thrill of the truly unknown and extraordinary. The vast peninsula is dotted with research centers at the forefront of human scientific endeavors, eager to explore and understand this unique landscape, its extraordinary wildlife, and the impact humans have on this untouched continent. Experience cathedral-sized icebergs up close and blue-tinged glaciers slowly sliding away from imposing locations such as Hope Bay. Blanched mountain peaks cover the peninsula, and you will find thousands of adorable Adelie penguin pairs living undisturbed in the unique environment of this peninsula.

Day 9: King George Island & Return Flight

After visiting the South Shetland Islands, you will begin your return journey to Puerto Williams. Just as on the way there, you will fly over the infamous Drake Passage, giving you one last chance to enjoy the magic of Antarctica. You will also spend the night in Puerto Williams at the same hotel where you stayed at the beginning of the trip.
