You will receive a list of the equipment you need. If you have winter clothing, you probably already have most of it. On board the ship, you will receive insulated Antarctic boots and a warm hat!

Satellite communication is available to check emails once a day. However, one wonderful aspect of this trip is that it gives you the opportunity to disconnect and take a break from emails, phone calls, etc. We encourage everyone to tell their friends and family to subscribe to the crew's blog and follow it on Facebook. That way, they can receive updates while you are traveling with us. Our customers and their families have greatly appreciated these "news" updates in the past. The route of your trip can also be tracked on a Google map, as a tracking system is used that shows your position every few hours.

That's correct – although this trip lasts 14 days in Antarctica, almost no time is wasted crossing the Drake Passage (your regular cruise ship takes 2 days to cross the Drake Passage). If you consider the cost per day in Antarctica, you will find that this trip is basically the same price per day as any other similar expedition on larger cruises, but with the advantage that you are traveling with only 8 or 12 guests, flying over the Drake Passage in just 2 hours, and have 2 weeks to explore Antarctica. This means you have the best chance of visiting most places, even if the weather is not ideal.
In addition, the operators of these small expedition ships are among the most professional in the industry. The yachts are fully insured for passenger transport and certified for commercial operation in accordance with the regulations of their flag states. The crew is also fully qualified to work on commercial vessels.
All necessary safety equipment is available, and an inspector from the US is regularly flown in (to Ushuaia or the Falkland Islands) to inspect and certify the ships. The yachts are maintained to the highest standards, with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance – this means that parts are replaced before they could fail.
