Blachford Lake Lodge & Wilderness Resort is located in northern Canada in the small town of Yellowknife, known for its excellent chances of seeing the Northern Lights. The remote lodge can only be reached by bush plane and is perfect for unwinding for a few days and enjoying the tranquility of Canada's beautiful wilderness.
You will stay in cozy guest rooms or, for more privacy, in small wooden cabins. All offer a fantastic view of the lake, where the northern lights often appear.
For relaxing days, the lodge offers a hot tub, and there is a traditional sauna on the lake, so you can jump straight into the ice-cold water after your sauna session.
During the day, you can choose from a wide range of activities, from action-packed to relaxing. In winter, the area surrounding the lodge is ideal for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile tours. In summer, you can explore the lake by canoe, go fishing, or discover the Canadian wilderness on a hike.
The lodge emphasizes seasonal ingredients and offers a wide selection of fish, meat, and vegetables. Everything is produced on site, even the bread is freshly baked. In summer, the lodge grows its own vegetables in its greenhouse.

Guest rooms and cabins
Blachford Lake Lodge & Wilderness Resort offers five large guest rooms on the second floor of the Main Lodge and, for more privacy, five traditional wooden cabins about a 5-9 minute walk from the Main Lodge. The guest rooms and cabins share a communal bathroom with showers and a washroom with hot water in the Main Lodge.

Sunrise Rooms:
The Sunrise Rooms in the Main Lodge are the largest rooms in the entire resort. The rooms offer two double beds, and an additional bed can be added if required.

Sunset Rooms:
The Sunset Rooms are ideal for families, as they offer a double bed, a single bed, and a single bed on a gallery. The rooms offer a wonderful view of the sunset.

Cabins:
A little way away from the main lodge are five wooden cabins with beautiful views of the lake, a fire pit, high-tech eco-toilets, and washbasins.

Old Trappers Cabin:
The most frequently booked Old Trappers Cabin is the original Blackford Lake Lodge Cabin. It is the perfect example of a traditional home in the Northwest Territories. It offers one double bed, four single beds, and an en suite toilet.

Point Cabin:
The Point Cabin is popular as honeymoon accommodation and can sleep five people. It offers a bunk bed, 3 large single beds, and an en suite toilet.

Raven's Roost:
Raven's Roost is one of the newest cabins and can accommodate 4 people with a bunk bed, a double bed, and an en suite toilet and sink. There is also a seating area around the small wood-burning stove.

Eagle's Net:
Right next to Raven's Roost is Eagle's Net Cabin, which also sleeps 4 people in four bunk beds and has an en-suite toilet and sink. The cozy seating area around the wood-burning stove invites you to relax.

Beaver Lodge:
The ground floor of Beaver Lodge features a seating area, a small wood-burning stove, and a bunk bed for four people. There is another double bed on the gallery. The lodge also has an en suite toilet and sink. Located directly on the lake, it is ideal for fishing enthusiasts.

Sauna and hot tub
Popular in summer and winter alike, the lodge's hot tub is sheltered from the wind and faces south, offering views of the mesmerizing northern lights in both seasons. The hot tub is the perfect place to relax.
The lodge's special sauna is located on the lake near Beaver Lodge. The hand-built cedar sauna is the perfect place to relax after an exciting day. To cool off, simply jump into the lake.

Glide quietly through the beautiful winter landscape and enjoy the peace and quiet. The Northwest Territories offer many kilometers of cross-country skiing trails for all levels.

A slightly faster way to discover Canada's untouched nature is a snowmobile tour. Longer tours with overnight stays can also be organized. Beginners have the opportunity to practice on easy terrain around the lodge.
snowshoe hike
The winter tradition of snowshoeing is possible in almost any weather conditions during winter. On a hike across the frozen lake, you have the opportunity to see the northern lights, or you can walk on marked trails in the area surrounding the lodge.
Build an igloo
Building a traditional Inuit igloo is a special experience. This is possible from February to March, depending on snow conditions.
Watching the Northern Lights
Yellowknife is one of the most famous places in the world to see the Northern Lights. From Blachford Lake Lodge, you only need to step outside to marvel at this natural wonder. When the weather is good, the lights sparkle like diamonds above the lake. The best time to see the Northern Lights is from mid-August to mid-October and from Christmas to mid-April.

The nearest international airport is Yellowknife Airport in Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories. From there, it is a 25-minute flight to the lodge in a bush plane.
