The mysterious Haida Gwaii archipelago stretches from the northern town of Masset to the southern reaches of Gwaii Haanas National Park, about 100 kilometers off the coast of British Columbia. This remote island world combines untouched nature, extraordinary wildlife, and the centuries-old cultural heritage of the Haida people.
Our small ship voyages offer impressive perspectives of the archipelago: quiet bays, secluded beaches, and virtually untouched coastlines can be explored at your leisure. On board, the proximity to the water allows for particularly intense observations of whales, seals, and seabirds, while the ships themselves leave hardly any traces in nature.

The tidal zones at K'iid Xyangs K'iidaay (Burnaby Narrows) reveal a small universe of crabs, starfish, and other sea creatures. On secluded beaches and in hidden coves, you can experience the feeling of untouched wilderness, while further out, whales and other marine mammals pass by. Hot springs, dense forests, and the intermingling of land and sea characterize a truly unique landscape.

Arrival and departure: We offer a variety of customized travel packages including flights, hotels, transfers, and activities. We are also happy to suggest pre- and post-programs to extend your trip.
Attention solo travelers: If you do not wish to have a single cabin, shared cabins are available on board the Cascadia. In this case, you will be accommodated with other travelers of the same gender and possibly of a different nationality. There are no single cabin surcharges. On the Maple Leaf, solo travelers share one of the semi-private sleeping areas with a person of the same gender or are given a berth in the comfortable accommodations in the wheelhouse. Again, there are no single cabin surcharges.

Your arrival and departure from/to Haida Gwaii or from/to Vancouver (when traveling with Cascadia) are not included in your tour price.
Since our customers all have individual wishes for their trip, we are happy to book flights separately. Of course, the flights then become part of a secure package tour. We always recommend an overnight stay in Vancouver to cushion any irregularities with your flight or lost luggage. We are happy to organize everything for you on request. Please contact us.
We offer three different island expeditionsin Haida Gwaii:
9 days aboard the Maple Leaf coastal schooner from Masset to Sandspit (Kitimat on the trip from July 24 to August 1, 2026)
Day 1: Your journey begins with a land excursion through Masset, Old Massett (G̲aw Tlagée), to North Beach and Tow Hill. Afterwards, you will explore Graham Island. The day ends with dinner together and an overnight stay in a lodge near Masset.
Day 2: In the morning, you will continue overland to Tlell and Skidegate and visit the Haida Heritage Center. Then you will board the Maple Leaf, which will set sail south toward Gwaii Haanas. With a little luck, you may see whales along the way before the ship anchors at an island for shore excursions.
Day 3: Today you will reach Gwaii Haanas, where you will visit the T'aanuu village, among other places. A special highlight is K'iid Xyangs K'iidaay (Burnaby Narrows), one of the most species-rich tidal areas on earth. Kayaking and other boat trips round off the day.
Day 4: Continuing south, the itinerary includes a hike at Cape St. James at the southern tip of Haida Gwaii. Afterwards, explore the beaches of Woodruff Bay and enjoy the opportunity to go fishing.
Day 5: The day begins with seabird watching, followed by a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of SGang Gwaay (Ninstints) in the southern part of Gwaii Haanas. Finally, we head to the former whaling station of Rose Harbor.
Day 6: The tour continues along the coast with a hike through the rainforest. With a little luck, you may spot black bears there. Haida Gwaii black bears are the largest of their kind in the world and exemplify how the isolated wildlife of Haida Gwaii—often referred to as the "Galapagos of the North"—has evolved in a unique way.
Day 7: Whales can be spotted on the journey through Juan Perez Sound. There is also an opportunity to visit a colony of seabirds and observe ornithologists at work.
Day 8: The Maple Leaf cruises back north—with stops at the cultural heritage site of Windy Bay, more whale watching opportunities, and a visit to the village of K'uuna (Skedans), a historic Haida site.
Day 9: The final stage takes you to Moresby Camp in Cumshewa Inlet. From there, you will be transferred to Sandspit Airport.

There you visit the T'aanuu village and explore K'iid Xyangs K'iidaay (Burnaby Narrows), one of the most biodiverse tidal areas in the world. Kayaking and other boat trips complete the experience.
Day 4: The day begins with seabird watching. You will then visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of SGang Gwaay (Ninstints), explore offshore islets, and visit the remote community of Rose Harbor, once a whaling station.
Day 5: Today, a hike through the rainforest is on the agenda. With a little luck, you may also see black bears.
Day 6: While cruising through Juan Perez Sound , you will hopefully see whales and visit ornithologists at a seabird colony.
Day 7: Today , you will explore the cultural heritage of Windy Bay, have more opportunities for whale watching, and visit the Haida village of K'uuna (Skedans).
Day 8: Your journey ends with a drive to Moresby Camp in Cumshewa Inlet. From there, you will be transferred to Sandspit Airport for your return flight.

Day 1: To kick off your trip, you will meet your fellow travelers at Vancouver Airport for your flight to Haida Gwaii. There, you will start with a tour ofMasset, Old Masset, North Beach, Tow Hill,and Graham Island. You will spend the evening enjoying dinner together and staying overnight in a lodge near Masset.
Day 2: In the morning, you will visit Tlaal and Skidegate, as well as the Haida Heritage Center in KAAY LLNAGAAY. Then you will board the Cascadia and, after a short briefing, it's time to cast off. With a little luck, you will see whales along the way and drop anchor at an island to explore it on foot.
Day 3: Today you will visit T'aanuu Village and explore K'iid Xyang's K'iidaay (Burnaby Narrows), one of the most biodiverse tidal areas on earth. Kayaking and other boat trips round off the day.
Day 4: Today, you will first travel south through Gwaii Haanas, hike at Cape St. James at the southern tip of Haida Gwaii, explore the beaches of Woodruff Bay, and have the opportunity to go fishing. You will also visit the Gordon Group in Houston Stewart Passage.
Day 5: You will observe seabirds and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of SGang Gwaay (Ninstints). Afterwards, you will visit the remote community of Rose Harbor or explore Looscoone Inlet and its mouth, where black bears may be spotted.
Day 6: Your journey continues along the coast. You may see sea lionsor go on a hike through the rainforest. With a little luck, you may spot black bears again.
Day 7: Today you will cross the Juan Perez Sound, watching whales and visiting researchers at a seabird colony.
Day 8: On your penultimate day in Haida Gwaii, explore the cultural heritage of Windy Bay, enjoy more whale watching opportunities, and visit the Haida village of K'uuna (Skedans) and Cumshewa Inlet. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.
Day 9: Finally, you will travel through Cumshewa Inlet to Moresby Camp and then be taken to Sandspit Airport. From there, you will fly back to Vancouver.
