MS Heritage Discoverer

The MS Heritage Discoverer can accommodate up to 130 passengers. They are accompanied by a 15-person expedition team, including naturalists, botanists, and historians, who give daily lectures in the Lecture Theater on Deck 6. Fourteen Zodiacs are available for shore excursions and outings, ensuring that everyone on board can fully experience every destination.

All 70 staterooms are exterior and are divided into nine categories across Decks 3, 4, 5, and 7: 20 Deck 3 Superior cabins with panoramic windows, 20 Deck 4 Superior cabins with large panoramic windows, four Deck 3 single cabins with two portholes, eight Superior Balcony cabins with French balconies, six Deck 4 Superior single cabins, six Discovery Suites with French balconies, and two each of Navigator, Worsley, and Heritage Suites with furnished private balconies on Deck 7. Ten cabins are specifically designated for solo travelers and are offered at a separate single-occupancy rate: four single cabins on Deck 3 with two portholes and six Superior single cabins on Deck 4 with a large panoramic window. The Discovery Suite, Navigator Suite, Worsley Suite, and Heritage Suite feature a marble bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower, a minibar restocked daily, and a spa credit of $100 per person. The Worsley Suite and Heritage Suite also include room service, laundry service, and an espresso machine. The Discovery, Worsley, and Heritage Suites can accommodate a third person on the sofa bed.

During the Southern Hemisphere summer, the ship sails from Ushuaia to Antarctica, visiting the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, as well as taking the grand tour via the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. During the Northern Hemisphere summer, it follows the Atlantic coast of Europe from Lisbon through the Channel Islands to the United Kingdom and Ireland, continues on to the Faroe Islands and Iceland, circumnavigates Iceland, and connects Spitsbergen, Greenland, and Iceland on a High Arctic route.

Zodiac excursions and shore landings, shore walks, and the expedition team’s lecture series are included in the tour price on all itineraries, as are house beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages with lunch and dinner. On select itineraries, guided sea kayaking excursions can be booked for an additional fee. On board, guests have access to a sauna, massage room, fitness center, two open-air hot tubs, and the bridge, where the captain and crew welcome passengers.

The Medical Center, staffed by a ship’s doctor, is located on Deck 3. It is equipped in accordance with the flag state’s regulations but is not equivalent to a hospital on land. Before the voyage, all passengers must complete a confidential medical questionnaire, and international health insurance covering emergency evacuation and repatriation is mandatory for Antarctic voyages, with a minimum coverage of 250,000 U.S. dollars per person. Pregnant women may travel until the 23rd week of pregnancy at the end of the voyage with a doctor’s note.

The MS Heritage Discoverer was built in Rauma, Finland, in 1989 and previously operated as the Silver Explorer. Following renovations in 2018, 2023, and 2026, it now serves as the second expedition ship in the same fleet, alongside the MS Heritage Adventurer. With Ice Class 1A, a length of 108 meters, and a range of 5,500 nautical miles, it is built for voyages from the Northwest Passage to Antarctica.
