MS USHUAIA
Ice-strengthened polar ship for Antarctic expeditions
The Ushuaia was originally built for the US agency NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) and has been renovated to accommodate 90 passengers in 46 comfortable cabins and suites.
The ice-strengthened polar ship Ushuaia is very well equipped with ample space on deck and an open bridge policy. The complete fleet of Zodiacs ensures excellent shore excursions and wildlife viewing opportunities on the otherwise inaccessible coast.
All cabins have ample storage space, a hairdryer, and air conditioning. The large dining room can accommodate all passengers at the same time. The chefs prepare excellent cuisine with many local specialties. The public areas include a panoramic lounge, a lecture room with modern multimedia equipment, a bar, and a well-stocked library. There is also a small infirmary. You can use the internet on the on-board PC.
The experienced captain, officers, and crew of the Ushuaia have a deep love of nature and extensive experience in Antarctic shipping. On board is a specialized team of international expedition leaders and lecturers, all of whom are highly competent, enthusiastic, helpful, and committed to protecting the environment.
