MS Douglas Mawson
Modern and comfortable expedition ship for the polar seas
The MS Douglas Mawson was named after the legendary Australian geologist and explorer and embodies his pioneering spirit. Launched at the end of 2025, this Class 1A icebreaker is predestined for polar voyages and discoveries far away from civilization, without compromising on comfort. Its highly qualified team of experts and hotel crew look forward to welcoming you on board.
The latest in nautical technology and the revolutionary Ulstein X-BOW, a patented bow design from the Norwegian Ulstein Group, minimize drag and ensure a smooth ride at high cruising speeds and less environmental impact.
As a modern base camp for worldwide expeditions, the MS Douglas Mawson has two restaurants, a fitness room and sauna, a heated outdoor pool with pool bar, Jacuzzis, a Citizen Science Center, a library, numerous viewing platforms, and the largest selection of cabins and suites ever offered on ships of this series, including single cabins. It offers a maximum of 130 explorers in polar regions (otherwise 154 passengers) the opportunity to travel to the most remote corners of the world in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere and get close to nature.
