The Royal Chundu attaches great importance to sustainability, which is why all ingredients are sourced from within a 3 km radius of the hotel.

If you prefer privacy, your dinner can also be served in your lodge, or you can enjoy a picnic or lunch by the river or on your boat tour.

activities
photo safari
A boat trip on the river offers numerous photo opportunities. Whether you are a professional or amateur photographer, you can capture unique moments here. Relax during the trip while the rangers on board point out hidden animals and wonders of nature. Drinks and snacks can be served at any time. Unique motifs can also be captured during a peaceful canoe trip or a day trip to Victoria Falls.
helicopter flights
Admire the Zambezi River and the mighty Victoria Falls from a bird's eye view. The helicopter flies through gorges and offers views that are hardly possible any other way. Experience this natural wonder up close. Royal Chundu provides a helicopter transfer from the airport over the falls to the lodge's landing pad. A short flight (approx. 12 minutes) directly over Victoria Falls is also offered. Alternatively, you can discover the game reserve from above, away from the gorges (approx. 25 minutes).
Canoe trip on the Zambezi River
Encounter wild animals such as hippos and crocodiles and discover Victoria Falls from the surface of the Zambezi River. The route leads from the Katombora rapids to the channels of the Zambezi Islands. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing picnic on the riverbank. The trip is made in an inflatable canoe or motorized boats and canoes.
Visit to a local community
The villages of Mushekwa and Muluka are located in the immediate vicinity. Take a walk to learn more about the community and get to know the real Zambia. The village can be reached by boat across the river, where a personal tour guide will welcome you. Gain a unique insight into ancient traditions and customs and learn about the healing powers of local plants.
The Parrotfish Marathon
From June to August, millions of fish are carried along by the current of the Zambezi River. When they reach the calmer rapids, local fishermen are already waiting for them – the fish are caught using hand-woven baskets made of reeds and palm leaves. This is a major event for all families on the Zambezi. The villages in the region can be supplied with fish all year round. Guests at Royal Chundu can fish themselves or simply admire the spectacle.
Boat trip at sunset
One of the most beautiful activities at Royal Chundu is gliding along the Zambezi River in the soft red glow of the sunset. Enjoy the view of the river and its wildlife while sipping a delicious cocktail. During the dry season, a stop is made at "Ellie Corner," where entire herds of elephants quench their thirst or take a dip in the river.
Chobe National Park
The Chobe National Park is located in neighboring Botswana and offers unique wildlife viewing, game drives in off-road vehicles, or boat trips on the local Chobe River. This is one of the most popular tours for Royal Chundu guests. It allows you to see four countries at once from the river: Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. Another highlight is the unforgettable wildlife encounters, from elephants to lions.
bungee jumping
A jump from the Victoria Falls Bridge at a height of 111 meters is just the thing for all adventure seekers. It's an exhilarating feeling to get closer to the Zambezi River in free fall, with Victoria Falls behind you and the Batoka Gorge in front of you. You can jump tandem or alone.
location
Royal Chundu is located approximately 50 km from Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (formerly Livingstone International Airport) in Zambia. From there, a representative of the lodge will welcome all guests and transfer them to the River Lodge (approximately 45-50 min drive). The Island Lodge is about a 5-10 minute boat ride away. For an additional fee, transfers can also be arranged from Kasane Airport (BBK) in Botswana or Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) in Zimbabwe.
The Royal Chundu is located in Zambia, a landlocked country in southern Africa. The lodges are situated directly on the Zambezi River, slightly upstream from Victoria Falls.
