Underwater Suite

Anchored in an anomaly of the seabed that we call the blue hole, the floating underwater suite surpasses almost everything. Being in a turquoise blue environment and watching schools of reef fish swim by—sometimes in three or four layers of different species—is a truly breathtaking and awakening experience. The floating structure, modeled on a Swedish design, consists of three levels: above the water is a lounge clad in local hardwood, below which is a bathroom and a sun deck for stargazing. Each of these levels is worth its own narrative.

Seafront Villas

 The Seafront Villas feature a spacious and open design with an extended balcony and private pool. The villas offer a perfect blend of traditional Pemban décor and modern comforts. In addition, the newly installed state-of-the-art EveningBreeze cooling system provides comfort without noise or drafts. Once you have selected your preferred sleeping climate, cool, clean air gently circulates over the surface of your bed, promising a restful night's sleep.

The Superior Garden Rooms

The Superior Garden Rooms feature a spacious and private open-plan design with a king-size four-poster bed and a large bathroom. They have their own private garden with an outdoor shower. Made from local materials and traditional Pemba décor with contemporary comforts. In addition, a large Swahili Baraza Lounge offers the perfect place to relax in the tranquility of the garden.

Standard Garden Room

Your Standard Garden Room is a compact, private, open-plan design featuring a king-size four-poster bed, an open bathroom, and a private garden with an outdoor shower. Made from local materials and traditional Pemba décor with contemporary comforts. In addition, a small balcony offers our guests a shaded place to relax in the garden.

Good to know:

• Guests staying in an underwater suite will be provided with a room on land.
  We recommend planning your night(s) in the underwater suite in the middle of your stay at Manta. In case of late arrival or early departure, you can then make the most of your stay in this room.
• Offers with free nights do not apply to the period from December 20 to January 10.
• The minimum age for children is 7 years. Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to stay in the Underwater Suite.
• No additional costs for lunch or late breakfast in case of early arrival
• In the event of a late check-out, lunch is still included, and you can usually stay in the same room until departure.
• The resort is closed in April and May.

Most meals are served here with a view of the ocean. From breakfast tailored to your preferences—with pancakes, sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, fresh fruit platter, Tanzanian coffee—to lunch and dinner.

Most meals are served here, but sometimes they are moved to the pool deck and beach to change the scenery when possible. Our team will spoil you with a variety of freshly caught local seafood, as well as beef, chicken, and vegan dishes, most of which have a special Pemba touch.

The Lounge

The lounge offers comfortable seating where you can chat with fellow travelers and use our Wi-Fi. The attentive staff will provide you with drinks and snacks of your choice before you even know you want them. Meet up, relax with a good book as the sun sets on the western horizon.

The Beach Bar

Watch the tides come and go as you sip on a lemongrass ginger sling, your feet buried in the cool sand and a gentle breeze cooling your skin. In our opinion, the sound of the waves and the breathtaking sunset over the Pemba Channel make this one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Our bartenders specialize in a variety of sundowners and cocktails and will treat you to fruit drinks and cocktails made from the freshest hand-picked mangoes, limes, lemons, pineapples, and coconuts on the island, mixed with a dash of rum to create unique refreshing drinks.

The Beach

Alone on the whitest coral beach you have ever seen.

Some beaches are almost mystical in their ability to slow down time, block out reality, and envelop you in a force greater than yourself. Our soft, cool, vast expanse of snow-white sand will soothe your soul. We serve most meals on the main veranda overlooking the sea, but move to the pool terrace and beach whenever possible to change the scenery. At high tide, the sea offers a huge natural pool with a sandy bottom.

The pristine coral reefs surrounding the entire island make Pemba one of the best diving spots in the world. The dive sites around Pemba

Some of the dive sites around Pemba are spectacular in every way. The deep Pemba Channel rises dramatically to the west coast of the island in nearly vertical walls along many reefs. Diving in this region is characterized by exceptionally clear, blue water and vibrantly healthy shallow reefs. Hard and soft coral gardens support the proliferation of reefs, pelagic fish, and other marine life.

Diving for nature conservation

Every morning before breakfast in the crystal-clear tropical water

Our house reef, located directly in front of the resort, is part of the Kwanini Conservation Area. Hundreds of species of marine life and crystal-clear tropical waters make this a must-see for all nature lovers. Our boat captain and snorkeling guide will accompany you and show you all of our usual reef inhabitants before breakfast. The best time of day. All proceeds are donated to the local Marine Conservation Area Committee and rangers. Additional donations are very welcome and appreciated. Our conservation boxes are located in the dive center and main lounge area.

island excursions

Pemba tour: This excursion takes you around the island of Pemba and visits the ancient Ngezi rainforest, the spice farm, and other interesting places. Choose what you want to include in your safari and how much time you want to spend. If you do everything, you will need a good 8 hours starting at 8:30 a.m.

Into the sunset: In Ngalawa is the traditional sailing ship used by fishermen on the island. At around 5:00 p.m., you leave the beach and sail along the coast over the reefs to enjoy the sunset, the thrill of sailing, and a bottle of sparkling wine.

Sandbank experience

At low tide, a sandbank emerges, allowing you to walk on the purest white coral sand. The perfect black to relax, surrounded by azure blue water. The excursion is highly dependent on the tides, currents, and weather conditions and is not always possible. This requires some planning between you and the resort management. A box of fruit and refreshments will be provided. This is a 10-minute boat ride from the resort at the northernmost point of Pemba Island.
