Underwater Suite | Northeast tip of Pemba Island, Tanzania
If you've ever wondered where paradise might be, today we'll show you the way.
Anyone who knows about it has it on their bucket list: the underwater suite at the Manta Resort.
The floating structure, designed in Sweden, is a real feast for the eyes. It floats in the crystal-clear waters of the Pemba Island Marine Reserve (known as "the blue hole" – complete with breathtaking coral heads), just a short flight from Zanzibar.
Your private boat transfer will take you to your floating palace, located just 250 meters from the shore. Over the next few days, you can explore the surrounding area on your own with a kayak, snorkel, and fins.
The underwater suite extends over three levels, with the hardwood landing deck at sea level housing a cozy lounge and bathroom area with an outdoor freshwater shower and an environmentally friendly marine toilet.
Climb the ladder and enjoy the sun-drenched deck.
Or enjoy the twinkling stars in the clear night sky while listening to the soothing sound of the sea.
And only at night: your soft double bed is surrounded by glass panes that offer a 360-degree view of life under the sea: colorful corals, schools of reef fish, and passing squids waving hello.
Minimum stay: 3 nights plus at least 3 nights at Mata Resort Pemba

The main deck of the underwater suite
The main deck features a cozy lounge area with seating, where meals are also served. From here, guests can embark on diving and snorkeling excursions, and there is an open-air rain shower.
The sun deck of the underwater suite
A staircase leads to the upper deck with a sunbathing area. The perfect place to sunbathe and relax. At night, there is probably no better place on Pemba to enjoy the starry sky without any lights in the vicinity, right in the middle of the ocean and all to yourself.
The underwater bedroom
Approximately 10 meters below the main deck is the underwater bedroom, which is furnished like a comfortable hotel room with a double bed. The 360-degree panoramic windows can be illuminated with pleasant blue LED lighting on request, attracting many curious nocturnal fish and colorful schools of fish. It is not uncommon for an octopus or starfish to make itself comfortable on the window.
Like a night dive, but comfortably in your bedroom, the night underwater is an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Included services and procedure Your personal Manta Family staff member will take you by boat to your Underwater Room at the desired time. Drinks and snacks are available here, as well as excellent snorkeling equipment. On request, a dive can also be organized or equipment for independent dives can be arranged.
All meals and drinks are served exclusively on deck at the desired time. A cell phone is available for your use while on deck, allowing you to contact the resort or order the boat at any time.
During the night at sea, you can keep your room at the resort and simply pack a small bag for the overnight stay.
After brunch on the sun deck, it's back to shore for more days at the beach villa.

island excursions
Pemba tour: This excursion takes you around the island of Pemba and visits the ancient Ngezi rainforest, the spice farm, and other interesting places. Choose what you want to include in your safari and how much time you want to spend. If you do everything, you will need a good 8 hours starting at 8:30 a.m.
Into the sunset: In Ngalawa is the traditional sailing ship used by fishermen on the island. At around 5:00 p.m., you leave the beach and sail along the coast over the reefs to enjoy the sunset, the thrill of sailing, and a bottle of sparkling wine.
Sandbank experience
At low tide, a sandbank emerges, allowing you to walk on the purest white coral sand. The perfect black to relax, surrounded by azure blue water. The excursion is highly dependent on the tides, currents, and weather conditions and is not always possible. This requires some planning between you and the resort management. A box of fruit and refreshments will be provided. This is a 10-minute boat ride from the resort at the northernmost point of Pemba Island.
location
To get to Pemba, you need to take a short flight from Zanzibar.
The transfer from Pemba Airport to the resort takes about 1.5 entertaining hours. It is already a small island tour.
