Today is finally the day! We're heading to Laos!

After a short break, today you will explore the pearl of Southeast Asia. An orientation tour will give you an overview of the history and culture of this UNESCO World Heritage city. Stroll through the evening market of the hill tribes in downtown Luang Prabang before being invited to dinner with a Laotian family. This will give you an insight into the everyday life of the locals and Laotian cuisine. (D)

Early in the morning, you will have the opportunity to watch the orange-robed monks on their morning alms round. After a brief explanation, you will know how to participate in this Buddhist tradition with dignity. After breakfast, board a private longtail boat and head to the Pak Ou Caves, where believers have donated thousands of Buddha statues over the centuries. In the afternoon, you will have the unique opportunity to get up close to the endangered Asian elephant in a unique way. (FM)

Today, you will be welcomed aboard your comfortable boutique ship. Then, make yourself comfortable in your cabin. Enjoy the spacious decks, the bar and restaurant area on board, and the welcome dinner in the evening with a fine selection of Asian and European dishes. Before that, you will visit Luang Prabang's oldest temple, the National Museum, and the nearby village of Ban Xang Khong, where you will gain an insight into traditional crafts. (FA)

Today, you will take an excursion to the Kuang Si Falls, the most impressive waterfalls in Laos. Your boat trip continues southward. Today, you will pass through a lock at one of the largest construction projects in Laos, the imposing dam at Xayaburi. At night, your boat will anchor at a beautiful sandbank, surrounded by nothing but untouched nature. (FMA)

Relax on the sun deck or listen to entertaining lectures on board. You will learn interesting details about the history of Laos and its people in an entertaining way. Perhaps you would also like to take part in a fruit tasting on board? Along the way, you will visit an almost forgotten cave, go on short hikes, and discover unspoiled corners of the world with your tour guide. In the evening, your river cruise ship will anchor at the shore. (FMA)

Your ship continues to wind its way southward. Green hills and miles of rapids alternate with calmer sections. Mountain rice fields and banana plantations appear repeatedly on the banks between individual teak stands. Enjoy the panoramic views in this undeveloped region and observe the local fishermen and the everyday life of the villagers on the banks. (FMA)

The passing landscape is spectacular: mountains covered in tropical rainforest and impressive rock formations create a unique natural spectacle. During the day, you will visit a Laotian village and get up close and personal with the locals. In the evening, you will reach Vientiane, the capital of Laos. (FMA)

After breakfast, you will learn about a Laotian national symbol: you will visit the imposing Buddhist stupa Pha That Luang, the country's most important religious monument. Take the time to admire the gleaming gold structure, which is around 45 m high, from all angles. Incidentally, the mysterious structure at the top of Pha That Luang is a stylized banana flower. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to get to know Laotian cuisine better in the neighborhood around Chao Anouvong Park. (FM)

After breakfast, say goodbye to your Laotian crew. You will fly to Pakse and then travel by long river boat through gentle rapids and past sandbanks to Champasak. Experience the magical Wat Phou temple, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It dates back to the 10th century and was once the economic and political center of the region. (FMA)

A transfer and a short boat ride take you to the heart of the 4,000 islands in southern Laos. Here, the Mekong is over 14 km wide and thousands of islands characterize the tropical river landscape. At the Li Phi Falls, the most water-rich falls in Southeast Asia, the Mekong crosses the border into Cambodia. (FMA)

Today is yours to spend at your leisure. If you wish, you can take part in an excursion to the Bolaven Plateau, once a summer retreat for the French colonial rulers. Here, at an altitude of around 1,000 meters above sea level, there are numerous plantations, making it the largest coffee-growing region in Laos. The Bolaven Plateau is also home to several mountain tribes. (B)

Today you will fly on to Cambodia. The small town of Siem Reap will be your base for the next few days as you explore the world-famous Angkor Park with its more than 100 temples dating from the 9th to 13th centuries. In the afternoon, you will visit an absolute highlight: Angkor Wat, one of the largest temple complexes in Cambodia and one of the most fascinating photo motifs in the world. (B)

In addition to Angkor Wat, the largest temple complex in Cambodia, you will also visit Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm. Ta Prohm Temple is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found: parts of the temple have crumbled and been overgrown by jungle trees and climbing plants. In the afternoon, you will visit Banteay Srei Temple, also known as the Citadel of Women, where you can marvel at the most beautiful reliefs in the entire Angkor Park. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit the non-profit organization Phare Ponleu Selpak. At this unique school, children and young adults can engage in musical activities and try their hand at visual and performing arts. Don't miss the circus performance. (B, picnic)

Today, you will take a trip to Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Asia. Tonle Sap Lake is a world unto itself, with floating villages, stilt houses, and workshops where skilled hands produce delicate marvels made of rice paper and delicious treats made from palm sugar. At low tide, we will organize an alternative excursion to Phnom Khulen, the site of the coronation of the first Khmer god-king in the 9th century. The day will be rounded off with a farewell dinner, where you will be enchanted by Apsara dancers. (FA)
