Day 1 Welcome to Al Ándalus!
Morning welcome by Spanish Railways staff in Madrid. Panoramic tour and lunch in the capital. In the afternoon, you will travel to Aranjuez, where the train will be waiting for you. After a welcome toast, you will settle into your compartment. You will then visit the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and its gardens. A World Heritage Site where history and beauty can be found in every corner of this royal location. (MA)
Day 2 Aranjuez – Toledo – Alcázar de San Juan
After breakfast, visit Toledo. Once the most monumental imperial city in Europe, it is now a World Heritage Site. The mixture of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish architecture, with its architectural representatives—the Gothic cathedral, the 10th-century mosque, and two synagogues—has given Toledo its universal character. Continue to Alcázar de San Juan. (FMA)
Day 3 Alcázar de San Juan – Cáceres
In the morning, visit an artisan cheese factory and a wine cellar to learn about how the most famous products of the La Mancha region are made. In the afternoon, visit Campo de Criptana with its characteristic windmills, a source of inspiration for Cervantes in his work Don Quixote. Afterwards, return to Alcázar de San Juan and take the train to Cáceres. (FMA)
Day 4 Cáceres – Mérida – Jerez
After breakfast on board, you will visit Cáceres, another World Heritage Site. Its well-preserved streets, squares, and palaces, combined with its cultural diversity, offer visitors a unique experience. Later, you will take the train to Mérida, which you will visit in the afternoon. Founded in 25 BC, this city of the ancient Roman Empire is also a World Heritage Site, and you will explore its ruins and history. Continue by train to Jerez de la Frontera. (B, L, D)
Day 5 Jerez de la Frontera
After breakfast, you will explore the city and attend an Andalusian horse ballet accompanied by Spanish music. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, followed by an afternoon visit to a popular winery. (FMA)
Day 6 Jerez de la Frontera – Cádiz – Jerez de la Frontera
After a hearty breakfast on board the Al Ándalus, a coach trip will take you to Cádiz. Here you will discover secluded squares and alleys full of Andalusian joie de vivre. Cádiz is considered the oldest city in Europe! Continue to Córdoba, the former capital of the medieval emirate and caliphate of Al-Andalus, where you will visit the Mosque-Cathedral. The city was once the largest, most cultured, and most opulent city in Western Europe. FMA)
Day 7 Farewell in Seville
After a hearty breakfast on board the Al Ándalus, you will bid farewell to the Al Ándalus and its friendly crew. You will then explore Seville, Andalusia's cheerful and colorful metropolis. You will visit the historic center, where you can marvel at the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, among other sights. Your eventful journey will then come to an end in the afternoon. (B)
