itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Alberta!
You’ll fly to Edmonton, the capital of the province of Alberta. Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to Smoky Lake. A unique experience awaits you there: you’ll be immersed in Métis culture. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your rooms at the lodge and meet your hosts. Over dinner together, you’ll also enjoy the breathtaking view of the river valley. (D)
Day 2: Visiting the Métis
Today, you’ll immerse yourself in Métis culture. Your hosts will teach you all about the history of the Métis people, and you’ll marvel at the wildlife, including various species of bison, moose, and horses. You’ll also learn about the plants of the boreal forest—and if you’d like, you can even try your hand at archery. After dinner, the evening will conclude with a group stargazing session. (FMA)
Day 3: Off to the Rockies!
You’ll leave Métis Crossing and head south toward Calgary. The city serves as the gateway to the Canadian Rockies. A short city tour will give you a first glimpse of typical Western culture. You’ll then drive along the Trans-Canada Highway into the rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains and arrive in Banff. (B)
Day 4: In Banff and Yoho National Parks
After three railway workers discovered hot springs in 1883, Canada’s first national park was established shortly thereafter. But Banff has much more to offer. Today, you’ll explore Tunnel Mountain, Bow Falls, and the Hoodoos viewpoint, and take a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain. In Yoho National Park, which forms the western part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and, like the parks in Banff and Jasper, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spectacular waterfalls, rock formations, and the continental divide await you! On the way back, you’ll visit Lake Louise against the dramatic backdrop of the Victoria Glacier. (B)
Day 5: Via the Icefields Parkway to Jasper
Today, you’ll drive to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway, considered Canada’s most scenic highway. Along the 230-kilometer route from Lake Louise, azure lakes and glaciers stretch out one after another; bears and moose might be waiting for you around every bend. After scenic stops at Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, and Mistaya Canyon, you’ll reach the Athabasca Glacier. Here you’ll have the unique opportunity to ride the Glacier Explorer—a vehicle with tires as tall as a person—onto the glacier and admire the ice up close. (B)
Day 6: On the Skeena to Prince George
The two-day train journey on the Skeena is considered the most scenic train ride in Canada. You’ll travel across the interior plateau of British Columbia along the Skeena River Valley, covering a distance of 1,160 km. Shortly after catching your first glimpse of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains, you’ll leave Alberta and follow the northern branch of the Fraser River to Prince George. (FM)
Day 7 Off to the Pacific!
Continue westward on the Skeena and experience one of Canada’s most forested and unspoiled regions, far from civilization. You’ll follow the beautiful Skeena River Valley as you approach the Pacific Ocean. Today’s destination is Prince Rupert, which is known as one of the friendliest towns in British Columbia. (FM)
Day 8: Through the Inside Passage
Get your cameras ready! Early in the morning, you’ll board the ferry for a picture-perfect full-day cruise south along the coast of British Columbia. The famous Inside Passage is one of North America’s most spectacular waterways. You’ll experience a day of unparalleled natural beauty, with mountains, fjords, glaciers, and abundant wildlife as your constant companions. In the evening, you’ll arrive in Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. (B)
Day 9: On the Trail of Whales
You’ll drive south along the coastal highway. In picturesque Telegraph Cove, you’ll board a boat for a whale-watching tour. These nutrient-rich waters are home to dolphins, otters, orcas, and humpback whales. After this little adventure, you’ll continue on to Parksville. (B)
Day 10: Parkville – Victoria
Today offers you a taste of both the modern and traditional cultures of British Columbia. In Chemainus, with its spectacular Indigenous murals, and in the town of Duncan, with its totem poles, you’ll immerse yourself in the province’s distant past. You’ll arrive in Victoria and explore the capital city of British Columbia. Victoria is known as the City of Sunshine and Gardens and has superbly preserved its heritage and traditions in museums, art galleries, pioneer homes, and magnificent mansions. (B)
Day 11: Victoria
In the morning, you’ll visit Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s largest floral displays. You’ll have plenty of time to stroll through these magnificent gardens. In the afternoon, explore charming Victoria on your own. The hanging flower baskets, the street musicians along the inner harbor, the view of the ocean, and the relaxed atmosphere will enchant you. (B)
Day 12: Vancouver
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Swartz Bay and board the ferry to Vancouver. Discover one of Canada’s most exciting cities on a city tour! You’ll see highlights such as Stanley Park with its collection of totem poles, trendy Robson Street, Canada Place with the cruise terminal, Chinatown, and Granville Island. (B)
Day 13: A day off in Vancouver
Vancouver is situated in a stunning setting between the ocean, the beaches, the harbor, and the rugged Coast Mountains. Enjoy your day off in this wonderfully cosmopolitan city. (B)
Day 14: Farewell to Vancouver
Your return flight to Germany departs around noon. (B)
Day 15: Arrival in Frankfurt
