Join us on an expedition cruise to the geographic North Pole, 90° north latitude.
Spend 21 days on the new polar expedition yacht Le Commandant-Charcot and explore a region that is covered in pack ice almost all year round.
From Spitsbergen, you will embark on an unforgettable expedition that will take you to the North Pole.
The Spitsbergen archipelago offers rugged coastlines with glaciers that are thousands of years old.
It is home to polar bears, whales, and many species of birds. On excursions with the ship's own Zodiacs, you will have the opportunity to experience this rich biodiversity up close.
Your itinerary takes you further into the pack ice and makes its way to the geographic North Pole, the northernmost point on Earth. Only a few people have traveled to this place before you.
You are surrounded by pack ice, which is in constant motion and offers you a view of endless, white landscapes.
Experience this untouched world of ice and enjoy the silence of the Arctic.
Your expedition leader and captain will determine the route and landings based on ice conditions, weather, and wildlife sightings.

itinerary
From/to Longyearbyen, Svalbard 16 days (15 nights)
Please refer to the itinerary for the alternative route for the 17-day trip to Reykjavik, Iceland.
Day 1: Longyearbyen, Svalbard – Embarkation from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Departure at 6:00 p.m.
Your journey begins in Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard. Here you are surrounded by wild nature, rugged coastlines, and glaciers that reach deep into the fjords.
The town is located on the largest island in the archipelago and has a long history of mining. Traces of this era can still be found today.
From 2027, this trip will be offered in a shorter version (13 days/12 nights), resulting in changes to the itinerary affecting days 3-7 and 9-13.
The rugged coastline of Spitsbergen, shaped by the fjords, is home not only to polar bears, but also to walruses, arctic foxes, and countless birds.
A magnificent backdrop for spectacular souvenir photos.
Experience a unique journey into the heart of the pack ice. The ice is constantly moving and the landscape is always changing.
The ice breaks and fine channels form as your expedition ship makes its way through. You find yourself surrounded by drifting, shimmering blue ice floes.
Here you have a good opportunity to observe typical Arctic fauna such as seals and polar bears.
You reach the geographic North Pole.
It lies at a latitude of 90° and is located on the Earth's axis of rotation, at the intersection of all lines of longitude.
It is dark here for six months of the year (polar night), and for the other half of the year it is light 24 hours a day (polar day).
The North Pole has captivated polar explorers for generations.
Very few people have managed to reach it to date: aboard Le Commandant Charcot, you now have the opportunity to join this exclusive circle.
From the North Pole, your journey takes you south towards Spitsbergen. You will travel through the vastness of the pack ice and, on excursions with the Own ship Zodiacs the opportunity to experience wild nature up close.
You can explore the ice landscape further with other activities such as snowshoeing or kayaking. For the very brave among you, the polar plunge, a plunge into the freezing cold waters of the Arctic.
On the 12th day of the 17-day voyage, you will travel through the pack ice along the Greenland coast.
You reach the coast of Spitsbergen. Your ship takes you past steep cliffs and coastlines shaped by glaciers and ice.
In addition to polar bears, the fjords of this region are also home to walrus colonies and countless bird species.
If you have decided on the 17-day trip to Iceland, you will spend another day at sea and set course for Greenland.
There you will spend 2 days exploring the Ittoqqortoormiit region, home to the world's deepest and longest fjord system, Scoresbysund.
Located on the main island of the Svalbard archipelago, the town of Longyearbyen is the northernmost territorial capital in the world.
You will arrive here early in the morning on day 16 of your trip and disembark.
The 17-day trip to Iceland takes you through pack ice and further along the Greenland coast.
You will travel through the Denmark Strait (days 15 & 16) with the largest underground waterfall in the world.
This region also offers numerous opportunities for whale watching.
Your route then takes you to Iceland.
On day 17, you will arrive in Reykjavík and disembark.
The daily programs described here are for your guidance. The itinerary may vary considerably due to local ice and weather conditions, last-minute permit procedures, and local authorities, but also to respond to current conditions regarding wildlife viewing.Theexpedition leader on board will determine the final itinerary and daily program. Flexibility is of utmost importance during our expedition-style voyages.

- For passengers transiting through Paris, we recommend staying overnight in Paris before this flight.

- Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the end of your trip and contain at least two blank pages for each visa required. Pages that are stained or stamped with stamps from previously used pages are not acceptable. Travelers who deviate from the planned ports of embarkation and disembarkation should inform themselves about the entry requirements of the respective country. If you do not have the necessary identification documents, the organizer is required by law to refuse you boarding and you will not be entitled to a refund of the cruise price.
- The information provided is currently valid. However, changes may occur at any time without prior notice from the relevant government agencies. Please contact your local authorities for information on visa and health regulations.
- We would like to draw your attention to the fact that although there is a doctor and medical facilities on board our ships, the treatment options on board are often limited and cannot be compared to a hospital or similar facility on land. As the ship is often far from the mainland for several days on certain voyages and the safety of all passengers is a top priority for the organizer, it is essential that every passenger completes a health questionnaire and returns it to us at least 45 days before departure.
- Important note on the use of drones: The use of drones is strictly prohibited on board, both during the voyage and in ports or at moorings. In the Arctic and Antarctic, the use of drones is also strictly prohibited on land by international polar regulations. In other regions, the use of drones is subject to obtaining a permit from the competent authorities of the individual countries and areas crossed, as well as the possession of a drone license, which the user must obtain in their country of origin. Passengers are responsible for obtaining these permits. The permits must be available for inspection at any time. Passengers who violate this permit requirement are liable to prosecution.
- In this extraordinary situation, your safety remains our top priority. Efficient protocols, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and the small size of our ships ensure maximum safety, so you can enjoy your cruise safely and carefree. Information about the relevant changes and our enhanced health measures can be found on our special page at click here.
- Activities: Please note that an EKG (electrocardiogram) from your family doctor is required for the Polar Plunge and ice swimming. In addition, persons under the age of 18 who wish to participate in these activities as well as kayaking must provide a sworn statement from their parents or legal guardians that they can swim. A parent or legal guardian must be present at the time of the activity.
