Your itinerary takes you further into the pack ice and makes its way to the geographic North Pole, the northernmost point on Earth. Very few people have traveled to this place before you.

Day 1: Longyearbyen, Svalbard – Boarding from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Departure at 6:00 p.m.
Your journey begins in Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard. Here, you’ll be surrounded by untamed nature, rugged coastlines, and glaciers that extend deep into the fjords.
The town is located on the archipelago’s largest island and has a history closely tied to mining. Traces of that era can still be found today.
Day 2: At Sea – Along the Coast of Spitsbergen
Spitsbergen’s rugged coastline, shaped by the fjords, is home not only to polar bears but also to walruses, arctic foxes, and countless birds. A magnificent backdrop for spectacular souvenir photos.
Days 3–5: Journey Through the Pack Ice
Experience a unique journey into the heart of the pack ice. The ice is constantly shifting, and the landscape is ever-changing.
The ice breaks and fine channels form as your expedition ship carves its way through. You’ll find yourself surrounded by drifting, bluish-shimmering ice floes.
Here you’ll have excellent opportunities to spot typical Arctic wildlife, such as seals and polar bears.
Days 6 & 7: Geographic North Pole
You will reach the Geographic North Pole.
It lies at a latitude of 90° and is located on the Earth’s axis of rotation, at the intersection of all meridians.
Darkness prevails here for six months of the year (polar night); for the other half of the year, it is light 24 hours a day (polar day).
The North Pole has captivated polar explorers for generations.
To this day, very few people have managed to reach it: aboard the Le Commandant Charcot, you now have the opportunity to join this exclusive group.
Days 8–10: Journey Through Pack Ice
From the North Pole, your journey takes you south toward Svalbard. You’ll travel across the vast expanse of pack ice and have the opportunity to experience the wild nature up close during excursions in the ship’s Zodiacs.
You can further explore the icy landscape through other activities, such as a snowshoe hike or a kayak tour. For the truly brave among you, the Polar Plunge awaits—a jump into the icy waters of the Arctic.
Day 11: Ny-Ålesund
During this cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Ny-Ålesund—the former mining town that is now an Arctic research station. The small settlement was founded in 1916 and served as the starting point for the expeditions of the famous polar explorer Roald Amundsen, as well as numerous other explorers. Visit the local museum and discover the world’s northernmost post office!
Please note that Ny-Ålesund will no longer be included on trips in 2028. Instead, you will spend an extra day in the pack ice.
Day 12: Northwest Spitsbergen
The northwest of Spitsbergen captivates with its fascinating landscape full of contrasts and unspoiled nature. Amid islands and peninsulas, an almost untouched world unfolds, where icy fjords, rugged mountain ranges, and massive glaciers form a striking backdrop. In the ever-changing Arctic light, the landscape takes on a very special atmosphere, allowing you to truly experience the vastness and beauty of this region.
In the midst of this quiet, secluded setting, the silence is broken only by the soft rustling of the wind. Aboard the Zodiacs, you’ll explore this unique region alongside experienced nature guides and gain fascinating insights into its wildlife. With a little luck, you’ll spot whales migrating through the icy waters, curious seals, or arctic foxes. Svalbard reindeer roam the vast plains, while arctic terns fill the sky above you. And with a little luck, you might even encounter a polar bear majestically making its way along the icy coastline.
Day 13: Longyearbyen, Svalbard
The town of Longyearbyen, located on the main island of the Svalbard archipelago, is the world’s northernmost territorial capital.
You’ll arrive here in the early morning and disembark.
The daily programs described here are for your guidance. The itinerary may vary considerably due to local ice and weather conditions, last-minute permit procedures, and local authorities, but also to respond to current conditions regarding wildlife viewing.Theexpedition leader on board will determine the final itinerary and daily program. Flexibility is of utmost importance during our expedition-style voyages.
