Day 1 Flight to Sao Paulo
In the evening, your grand tour of Brazil begins with a flight from Frankfurt to São Paulo. (If you booked without flights, your trip begins on Day 2.)
Day 2 Welcome to Brazil
Welcome by your experienced tour guide at Sao Paulo airport and flight to Iguazú. Wider than Victoria Falls, higher than Niagara Falls, and undoubtedly more impressive than both, over 270 cascades plunge into the depths over a width of almost 3 km. Tropical birds and huge colorful butterflies add exotic splashes of color to the unique jungle landscape of the 2,000 km² Parque Nacional de Iguaçu, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1986. In the afternoon, you will see the waterfalls in all their grandeur on the Brazilian side. You will spend the next two nights in a comfortable hotel near the national park.
Day 3 Iguazú Falls: UNESCO World Heritage Site
Today, you will visit the Argentine side of the falls. Your tour winds along the rocks around the huge valley basin, allowing you to experience this untamed natural spectacle up close. You will walk across a footbridge to the main waterfall, aptly named Devil's Throat, where the masses of water plunge 90 meters right before your eyes. (B)
Day 4 Arrival in the Pantanal
Flight to Cuiabá and transfer to your lodge (approx. 2 hours), where you will spend the next three nights. Extremely rich biodiversity: three words that best describe the Pantanal’s extraordinary nature. In 2000, UNESCO designated the Pantanal as one of the world’s most important biospheres, offering ideal conditions for wildlife viewing. No wonder the Pantaneiros call their land a Garden of Eden. The Pantanal is South America’s largest nature reserve. Each day, you’ll go on a variety of excursions, which are scheduled at short notice and depending on the weather. All these little adventures—such as horseback rides, jeep tours, river cruises, hikes, and photo safaris—are included in the tour price and are led by your German-speaking tour guide. (FA)
Day 5 Excursions in the Pantanal
You’ll spend two full days enjoying this extraordinarily fascinating nature reserve. It is home to numerous mammal species, including big cats such as jaguars and ocelots, spectacled caimans, anacondas, tapirs, anteaters, and capybaras—the world’s largest rodents. The bird population is among the most fascinating on our planet, with more than 650 species cataloged. (FMA)

Day 7 Futuristic Brasilia: UNESCO World Heritage Site
Morning flight to Brasília, Brazil’s postmodern capital. On a city tour, you’ll experience Brasília with its futuristic architecture, which looks like something out of a science fiction movie. In 1987, the city—built in the shape of an airplane—was designated a modern World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In particular, the signature style of world-renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer has given the Brazilian capital an avant-garde character, featuring highly impressive monuments, palaces, and landmarks. Here, you’ll stay at a centrally located, upscale mid-range hotel. (B)
Day 8 Manaus – Extravagance in the tropical rainforest
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Manaus and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. Manaus is an architectural extravaganza, offering exciting sights and architectural gems from the heyday of the rubber boom. This jungle metropolis, home to the famous opera house, is the only city in the world with a population of over one million that is not accessible by land. Tonight you’ll stay at a centrally located, comfortable hotel. (B)
Day 9 Amazon cruise
In the morning, you’ll take a sightseeing tour through the “City of Opera” on the Rio Negro. Among other sights, you’ll visit the magnificent Teatro Amazonas, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2026 and reflects the city’s former wealth during the heyday of the rubber boom. In the early afternoon, you’ll board the MS Jangada, which will be your comfortable home for the next five nights. After a welcome drink, your tour guide will present the itinerary. Your ship will sail downstream to Encontro das Águas, the confluence of the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimões—as the Amazon is known up to this point. The Rio Negro, black as espresso, and the Amazon, brown as a latte macchiato, take over ten kilometers to merge their waters. For that entire distance, they flow side by side, almost unmixed, in the same riverbed—one on the right, the other on the left. Giant trees and the riverbanks shimmer in the colors of the rainforest. Day 10 Amazon cruise
The world’s longest river is an unpredictable diva. Its watershed is nearly twenty times the size of Germany. Today, you’ll wake up here on Lake Janauaca. The highlight of any river cruise in the Amazon is the excursions into the rainforest. These are possible on small ships like the MS Jangada. With its shallow draft, it can navigate even the shallower tributaries and even dock right at the shore. You’ll set out on an excursion before breakfast, as sunrise is the best time to observe the Amazon’s birdlife. With a little luck, parrots of all sizes and colors will fly past, screeching loudly. Perhaps toucans will be perched high up in the trees, and the prehistoric hoatzin birds will be hiding in the thicket. The area is also home to the Amazon river dolphin. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll explore the local flora and fauna on a jungle hike. In the afternoon, an excursion in motorized canoes awaits you. You can fish for piranhas and get a look at their teeth. After dark, you’ll set out on another exploratory trip. (FMA)
Day 11 Amazon cruise
During an early-morning shore excursion, you’ll have the opportunity to see the giant water lily, Victoria regia, up close. Small capuchin monkeys are also often spotted in this area. The journey continues upstream. You’ll pass through Manaus and enjoy a superb view from the water of the bustling activity in this jungle city. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the village of Terra Preta. Your visit with the indigenous people of this region will give you a glimpse into everyday village life. In the early evening, you’ll take a boat trip to observe the wildlife. The sounds of the animals bidding farewell to the day as twilight falls are truly unforgettable! (FMA)
Day 12 Amazon cruise
After breakfast, a morning jungle hike will give you an overview of the sensitive ecosystem with its magnificent diversity. 1,500 bird species, 6,000 tree species, 2.5 million insect species – and no one knows how many more are still waiting to be discovered. Around noon, you will return to the ship. While you enjoy your lunch on board, the ship will continue its journey to the largest freshwater archipelago in the world. With over 400 islands, the Anavilhanas group is a veritable labyrinth! (FMA)
Day 13 Amazon cruise
This day is all about Anavilhanas National Park. Before breakfast, you’ll take a boat ride to spot a family of otters—if you’re lucky. This will be followed by a presentation on the issue of rainforest destruction, before you join a lively caipirinha-making class—no trip to Brazil would be complete without these refreshing lime-based drinks! In the afternoon, you’ll reach the northern Rio Negro. The small tributaries carry particularly dark water and offer beautiful reflections in the late afternoon. (FMA)
Day 14 From the jungle to Copacabana
Your last day aboard the MS Jangada begins with a particularly exciting excursion on the Rio Ariaú. In the late morning, you will reach Manaus, where your river cruise ends. Transfer to the airport and flight to Rio, where you will check into your room at a comfortable hotel on Copacabana Beach for the next three nights. (B)
Day 15 Rio de Janeiro
In the morning, you will take a city tour. You will take the cable car up to the famous Sugarloaf Mountain. (B)
Day 16 Rio de Janeiro
In the morning, visit Corcovado with its famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. A 3.7 km cog railway takes you to the summit. Enjoy breathtaking views from the 710 m high mountain! At the farewell dinner, you can chat with your fellow travelers about the most exciting experiences of your trip. (FA)
Day 17 Return flight to Germany
After breakfast, you will head to the airport for your return flight home. If you have some extra time, we recommend extending your trip to Salvador da Bahia and Praia do Forte (trip IDs: 2393, 2394). We would also be happy to suggest a customized extension based on your preferences. (B)
