Aqua Mare
15-day ship expedition on the superyacht Aqua Mare (max. 16 passengers) from/to Baltra Island through the eastern and western Galápagos with diving, snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding, and hiking
Off the coast of Ecuador lie the Galápagos Islands – a unique natural environment with an impressive diversity of species. Numerous animal species live here that are found exclusively on this archipelago, including Galápagos penguins, giant tortoises, land and marine iguanas, and sea lions. The archipelago had a decisive influence on Charles Darwin's development of his theory of evolution, which has had a lasting impact on our understanding of biological diversity today.
Whether hiking on remote trails or snorkeling along the volcanic coastline, encounters with rare animals, some of which are found only here, make every trip an unforgettable nature experience.

Thanks to the best guest-to-guide ratio in the entire archipelago—only eight travelers per local nature guide—you will enjoy an exclusive and intense nature experience on this superyacht expedition through the Galápagos Islands.
Intensive voyage of discovery through the eastern and western Galápagos
This comprehensive superyacht itinerary gives you an in-depth impression of the diversity of the Galápagos archipelago: in the west , you can expect young, still volcanically active islands with unspoiled nature and exceptionally rich marine life – including manta rays, marine iguanas, and Galápagos penguins. The eastern part of the archipelago captivates with greener, older landscapes and a wide variety of seabirds, including blue-footed boobies and albatrosses. You will also visit cultural and scientific institutions such as the historic Bahía Post Office and the Charles Darwin Research Station.
After each eventful excursion, you return to your luxurious superyacht – the only one of its kind in the Galápagos archipelago. The stylishly designed suites and spacious communal areas, including a whirlpool, sun deck, and panoramic lounge, offer the utmost comfort on the 50-meter-long expedition ship Aqua Mare.
Aqua Mare also sets new standards in culinary terms: the cuisine on board takes you on a culinary journey of discovery through the region. The menus created by renowned chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino are inspired by the impressive landscapes of the Galápagos Islands and the refined Peruvian-Japanese Nikkei cuisine.

Advance information
Your arrival and departure from/to Baltra Island are not included in your travel price.
Since our customers all have individual wishes for their trip, we are happy to book flights separately. Of course, the flights then become part of a secure package tour. Before flying to Baltra Island (Seymour Airport) on day 1 of this trip, we recommend spending the night in Quito or Guayaquil to cushion any irregularities with your international flight or lost luggage. We are happy to organize everything for you on request. Please contact us.
Day 1: Embarkation on Baltra Island and visit to Bahia Borrero
After a warm welcome at Baltra Airport, you will take a short transfer across the island to the port. A warm welcome awaits you aboard the Aqua Mare, the first 50-meter luxury yacht in the Galapagos Islands. After a delicious lunch, you can choose your personal snorkeling equipment to borrow.
In the afternoon, your first adventure begins with a trip to the beautiful white beach of Bahia Borrero in the north of Santa Cruz. With a little luck, you may spot Darwin's finches in the coastal vegetation. Those who prefer to go into the water can discover sea turtles while snorkeling. After all , this beach is one of their most important nesting sites .
Back on board, enjoy an exclusive dinner with Nikkei influences—created by Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, your internationally renowned chef.
Day 2: El Barranco & Bahía Darwin, Genovesa Island
This morning, you will wake up north of the equator and start the day by exploring the coral beaches of Bahía Darwin, which are perfect for hiking and snorkeling.
After an exquisite lunch, we continue to Genovesa Island, where you will travel by dinghy along the volcanic rocky coast of El Barranco. Keep an eye out for Galápagos fur seals, which like to rest in the crevices of the rocks there.
A 1.5-kilometer inland walk then takes you across lava fields, past red-footed boobies, magnificent frigatebirds, and the nimble Galápagos storm petrels.
In the evening, a private movie screening awaits you on the lower deck, featuring the impressive "Planet Earth" documentary about the Galápagos Islands or the adventure film "Master and Commander." Or simply enjoy the clear starry sky from the sun deck.
Day 3: Sullivan Bay, Santiago Island & Sombrero Chino Island
Start the day early with a workout or guided meditation on the sun deck, followed by a hearty breakfast. The first excursion of the day takes you to Santiago Island, where you will explore the fascinating pahoehoe lava flows during ashore excursion at Bahía Sullivan.
After a hearty lunch and an exciting presentation by one of your experienced nature guides on board, the Aqua Mare sets course for Sombrero Chino – a small island whose crater gives it its characteristic "hat shape."
Sea lions and Galápagos penguins can often be observed up close in the surrounding crystal-clear waters. Afterwards, there is time for snorkeling, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding.
Back on board, you can round off the day with a sundowner and enjoy another culinary highlight with macambo rice and fish wrapped in maito leaves.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 4: Bartolomé Island & Cerro Dragón, Santa Cruz Island
Early in the morning, the Aqua Mare anchors off Bartolomé Island, where you set off on a gentle climb up a cinder cone to enjoy a magnificent view of the famous Pinnacle Rock, the island's landmark.
Afterwards, cool off with a snorkel in the clear water – with a little luck, you may be accompanied by sea turtles and Galápagos penguins. Then return to the yacht for lunch while it sets course for Santa Cruz Island.
In the afternoon, there will be an excursion to Cerro Dragón (Dragon Hill), named after its significant population of land iguanas.
Back on board, you can round off the day with a glass of wine and regional specialties.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 5: E Chato Giant Tortoise Reserve & Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, Santa Cruz Island
In the morning, you will visit a nature reserve where you can observe the famous Galápagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat. The area is also ideal for bird watching: Darwin's finches, yellow-legged gulls, flycatchers, cattle egrets, and, with a little luck, even the rare Galápagos railcan be spotted here.
After a delicious lunch, the program continues with a visit to the Charles Darwin Station and the National Park Center. At the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, you will learn about the different stages of development of the giant tortoises, which are raised there according to their island of origin.
Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Puerto Ayora – ideal for strolling around, buying souvenirs, or enjoying a coffee by the water.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 6: Punta Suárez, Gardner Bay & Osborn Islet, Española Island
Start the day with a guided meditation on the upper deck before setting off on your morning excursion to Punta Suárez. This destination is one of the most fascinating in the Galápagos Islands, mainly due to the exceptionally high proportion of endemic species such as the Española mockingbird, lava lizards, marine iguanas, and, of course, the Galápagos albatross, which breeds exclusively here.
In the afternoon, a dinghy will take you to a group of small islands where you can snorkel among playful sea lions and colorful reef fish.
The crowning glory of the day is a visit to the stunning Bahía Gardner, a coral sand beach that is home to one of the largest sea lion colonies in the entire archipelago.
Day 7: Santa Fe Island & Plaza Sur Island
After a night at sea, you will reach Santa Fe Island, one of the oldest islands in the Galapagos archipelago. The landscape is characterized by Palo Santo trees, prickly pears, and other endemic shrubs. With a little luck, you may spot land iguanas, lava lizards, mockingbirds, and Darwin's finches here.
After the exploration tour, you will have the opportunity to discover the underwater world while snorkeling or enjoy some sporting activities such as kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding.
Back on board, a delicious lunch awaits you before the journey continues to Plaza Sur Island, located off the east coast of Santa Cruz. In the afternoon, you will go ashore on a small but diverse island and embark on a two-hour hike with an expert guide to explore the fascinating rock formations and wildlife.
End the evening in a relaxed atmosphere—with a glass of wine under the breathtaking starry sky of the Galapagos archipelago, while you chat with other guests about the day's experiences.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 8: Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island
Choose from a variety of exciting activities today: whether snorkeling, hiking, cycling, or even diving —there is something for everyone. Your cruise director on board will be happy to provide you with further information.
Today, you will also welcome new fellow travelers who will accompany you on the upcoming seven-day route. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to explore charming Puerto Ayora on your own. We particularly recommend a stroll along the waterfront promenade with its small boutiques and jewelry stores.
Back on board, your naturalist guides will give an exciting lecture offering further insights into the unique world of the Galapagos Islands. The best way to end the day is with a fresh seafood dinner.
Day 9: Punta Cormorant, Bahía Post Office, and Mirador de la Baronesa, Floreana Island
Today, the Aqua Mare anchors in the south of the archipelago near Floreana Island. After breakfast, you will go ashore to visit a large brackish water lagoon at Punta Cormorant, where you can observe flamingos, ducks, stilts, and other wading birds. You will also see the nighttime nesting sites of sea turtles —and, with a little luck, rays and sharks swimming near the coast.
For lunch, you can look forward to a menu of fresh Ecuadorian specialties, refined with a touch of Andean cuisine. In the afternoon, you will return to Floreana to pay homage to an old island tradition: you will visit the historic Bahía Post Office, where sailors once left their letters. Before that, you will take a look at the site of a former fishing company from the 1920s.
Afterwards, we continue by dinghy to Mirador de la Baronesa, a viewpoint with a fascinating history and magnificent views over the coast.
Back on board, another culinary highlight awaits you: a dinner that combines Japanese culinary tradition with Peruvian spices, for example in the form of tuna tartare or quinoa yakimeshi. If you like, you can end the evening on the upper deck with a cocktail and admire the starry sky of both hemispheres.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 10: Punta Moreno & Bahía Urbina, Isabela Island
After a night at sea, you will wake up to views of the impressive west coast of Isabela Island, the largest and youngest island in the archipelago. Formed by five relatively young volcanoes, Isabela is known for its large populations of giant tortoises and marine iguanas.
The morning excursion takes you on foot to Punta Moreno, where you hike through mangrove landscapes and across gas-rich basalt lava fields that flowed from the Cerro Azul volcano centuries ago. Along the coastal lagoons, you explore the wildlife by dinghy, including marine iguanas, flightless cormorants, and Galápagos penguins.
In the afternoon , the Aqua Mare sails further north to Bahía Urbina, a six-square-kilometer area that rose up to three meters above sea level in 1954 due to tectonic uplift. Here you will encounter wild land iguanas, the largest marine lizards in the archipelago, and, with a little luck, giant tortoises.
End the day relaxing with a view of Isabela's five volcanoes, accompanied by dinner under the stars with specialties such as macambo rice, fish in maito leaves, and candied pear.
Day 11: Punta Espinoza, Fernandina Island & Caleta Tagus, Isabela Island
Start the day with an early workout on the sun deck while the Aqua Mare anchors at Punta Espinoza. This huge lava field was created by one of the many eruptions of La Cumbre, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The region is famous for its large colonies of marine iguanas, flightless cormorants, and lava lizards. With a little luck, you may also encounter Galápagos penguins, Galápagos buzzards, or even snakes.
In the morning, you will explore the shore on foot and then have the opportunity to snorkel before returning to the boat for lunch.
In the afternoon, your superyacht will cross the Bolívar Channel back towards Isabela Island – and things will get adventurous: on the excursion to Caleta Tagus, a former hideout for pirates and whalers, you can immerse yourself in history. There you will hike to Darwin Lake, a saltwater lagoon in a tuff cone. Alternatively, discover the bay by kayak, on a stand-up paddleboard, on a tender boat tour, or while snorkeling.
Back on board, enjoy a sundowner with a view of the sea before joining the captain on the bridge after dinner as you cross the equator twice.
Day 12: Puerto Egas, Playa Espumilla & Caleta Bucanero, Santiago Island
In the morning, take the dinghy to Caleta Bucanero, a former refuge for pirates in the 17th century, who came here for fresh water and turtle meat. If the sea is too rough, head to Playa Espumilla, where a golden sandy beach is known as an important nesting site for sea turtles.
Back on board, lunch awaits you, inspired by the flavors of the South American Pacific coast.
In the afternoon, we continue to the black sand beaches of Puerto Egas in the northwest of Santiago Island. Here, you can explore the intertidal zone on foot to the fur seal caves or snorkel among sea turtles, sea lions, and whitetip reef sharks.
Day 13: Rábida Island & Caleta Tortuga Negra, Santa Cruz Island
Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a fresh breakfast before setting off in a dinghy to Rábida Island, also known as "the Red Island." It owes its characteristic color to the oxidation of ancient porous lava.
On site , you can go hiking, take double kayaks out on the water, use stand-up paddleboards, or go snorkeling. You can also probably see sea lions here on the beach.
After a delicious lunch, your expert guides will give a presentation in the Panorama Lounge in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Aqua Mare continues sailing north to Caleta Tortuga Negra, a mangrove estuary and habitat for sea turtles. As there is no landing site here, you will explore the bay on a tender trip, where you can observe green sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks, and Galápagos sharks.
The grand finale of this day is another menu created by chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 14: Seymour Norte Island & Mosquera Island
On your penultimate day of travel, you will set off for Seymour Norte Island, which was formed around 3.1 million years ago by undersea volcanic eruptions. The island is best known for its intact populations of land iguanas, blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and impressive frigatebirds.
After an active morning, you will return on board to recharge your batteries with a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, take the dinghy to Mosquera Island, one of the smallest but most wildlife-rich spots in the archipelago. Here you have the best chance of seeing sea lions claiming the beach for themselves.
Optional: A dive is possible in the morning by prior arrangement.
Day 15: Disembarkation on Baltra Island
The last day of your journey begins with a luxurious breakfast at sunrise. Enjoy the peaceful morning atmosphere and the view from the Aqua Mare before your ship sets course for Baltra Island for disembarkation. Say goodbye to the crew and the floating home that has accompanied you for the past two weeks.
Your expedition team will then take you to the airport, where your return flight to the mainland will mark the beginning of your journey home. But you won't just be taking your luggage with you. You'll also be taking unforgettable memories of an extraordinary journey that will hopefully linger in your mind for a long time to come.
PLEASE NOTE: The daily programs described here are for your guidance only. The itinerary may vary due to local weather conditions, last-minute permit procedures, and organizational requirements. The expedition leader on board will determine the final itinerary and daily program. Flexibility is of utmost importance during our expedition-style voyages.

Snorkeling & Diving
Snorkeling is a wonderful way to experience the incredible biodiversity of the waters around the Galapagos Islands up close. Many snorkeling spots in the archipelago are characterized by shallow, calm waters that are popular with marine animals. Similar to the land animals of the Galapagos, the underwater inhabitants are not afraid of humans – which makes every marine expedition a very special experience. Look forward to playful sea lions and gentle sea turtles swimming harmoniously alongside you.
Each guest receives their own snorkeling equipment on board—consisting of a mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit—which is available for use throughout the trip. Some of the best snorkeling spots in the Galápagos Islands include:
-
Las Bachas Beach: An important nesting site for the Pacific green sea turtle. Ideal for observing these fascinating animals in the calm, crystal-clear waters right on the beach.
-
Sombrero Chino: A hotspot where, with a little luck, you can see Galapagos penguins and whitetip reef sharks up close.
-
Punta Espinoza: Here you will encounter impressive marine iguanas—a rare species of reptile found only on the Galapagos Islands.
In addition, this superyacht expedition between the Galápagos Islands offers you the opportunity to discover the extraordinary marine habitats during first-class diving sessions conducted by a certified local diving provider.
tender trips
The Aqua Mare is equipped with two black military tenders, which provide guests with the most comfortable transportation between the yacht and destinations throughout the Galapagos Archipelago.
Tender trips are a fun and relaxing way to explore the islands. Guests can enjoy the sea breeze and admire the impressive landscapes. Highlights of the tender trips include:
-
Black Turtle Cove: An untouched mangrove reserve that can only be explored with the tender's engine turned off. In the calm and peaceful atmosphere, you can observe green sea turtles, pelicans, whitetip reef sharks, and stingrays.
-
Punta Moreno: An exciting tender trip along the rocky coast, where you can admire the breathtaking landscape and observe various species of coastal birds – from penguins and blue-footed boobies to flightless cormorants.
-
Buccaneer Point: A fascinating trip along the coastline of a former anchorage once used by British pirates, where you will learn more about the islands' adventurous pirate history.
Kayaking & Stand-up Paddleboarding
The Galapagos Islands offer excellent conditions for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The calm waters are ideal for exploring the coastal landscapes and marine life from a particularly close perspective. The Aqua Mare is equipped with eight high-quality double kayaks and two paddleboards, allowing guests of all ages to discover the surroundings individually and at their own pace.
The main locations for kayaking and paddling adventures in the Galapagos Islands are:
-
Tagus Cove: Kayaking in this deep bay brings you close to the coast, where flightless cormorants and Galapagos penguins rest on the cliffs. In this former pirate hideout, you can also discover graffiti on the rock walls.
-
Espumilla Beach: Choose between kayaking or paddleboarding to spot octopuses, moray eels, and even sharks.
-
Darwin Bay: A beautiful coral beach with excellent opportunities to observe sea lions, boobies, frigate birds, and hundreds of colorful reef fish.
Guided hikes
On some shore excursions, you will have the opportunity to venture deep into the wildlife habitats on guided hikes through the interior of the islands and experience the spectacular landscapes and geology of the islands up close.
