8-day premium catamaran expedition with the MS Endemic (max. 16 passengers) from/to Baltra Island through the southeastern Galápagos archipelago
Eight days. More than ten islands. And countless encounters with animals that you cannot experience anywhere else in the world. This intensive catamaran expedition takes you through the southeast and thus through the oldest part of the Galápagos archipelago – from Santa Cruz via San Cristóbal to Española. Spectacular rock formations, pristine beaches, and wildlife that is surprisingly unafraid of humans.

Daily shore excursions and snorkeling trips are on the agenda: swim with playful sea lions in crystal-clear bays, marvel at the majestic Galápagos albatrosses during their courtship rituals, and come face to face with the legendary giant tortoises in the wild. Snorkel with penguins and immerse yourself in colorful underwater worlds that are home to Pacific sea turtles, impressive rays, and whitetip reef sharks.
The small expedition catamaran MS Endemic brings you so close to the landscape and wildlife of the Galápagos Islands that you will intuitively understand why these islands inspired Darwin to develop his theory of evolution.

itinerary
Advance information
Your arrival and departure to Baltra Island are not included in your travel price.
Since our customers all have individual wishes for their trip, we are happy to book flights separately. Of course, the flights then become part of a secure package tour. Before flying to Baltra Island (Seymour Airport) on day 1 of this trip, we recommend spending the night in Quito or Guayaquil to cushion any irregularities with your international flight or lost luggage. We are happy to organize everything for you on request. Please contact us.
Day 1: Embarkation on Baltra Island & Dragon Hill on Santa Cruz Island
Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed at the airport and transferred to the MS Endemic, where you will board and check into your cabin.
In the afternoon, your first excursion takes you to Dragon Hill in the northwest of Santa Cruz. As you walk into the interior of the island, you will encounter the impressive land iguanas – reptiles that were on the brink of extinction just a few decades ago, making them all the more moving to see.
Dragon Hill also features a flamingo lagoon, where you can observe pink flamingos , pintails, flycatchers, and warblers. After a short climb, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view from the hill. Before returning to the catamaran, the clear coastal waters invite you to go snorkeling.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling
Day 2: San Cristóbal Island – Kicker Rock, Witch Hill, and Lobos Island
In the morning, you will first head for Kicker Rock – a spectacular rock formation shaped by wind and waves over thousands of years. As your ship circles the striking rock, you can observe seabirds in their nesting grounds and take impressive photos.
The journey continues to Witch Hill, a tuff cone in the southwest of San Cristóbal. On a dinghy trip along the coast, you glide close past bizarre rock formations before mooring at a beautiful white sandy beach with crystal-clear water —perfect for snorkeling.
Activities: Hiking, dinghy excursion, snorkeling, and kayaking
In the afternoon, visit Lobos Island, where you can observe blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, marine iguanas, and nesting magnificent frigatebirds. The excursion also includes snorkeling with sea lions in this tranquil bay.
Activities: Short hike (less than 1 km), dinghy excursion, and/or snorkeling
Day 3: Española Island – Gardner Bay & Punta Suarez
Today you will explore Española, the southernmost island of the Galápagos archipelago. Here you will find an impressive variety of endemic species, from the curious Española mockingbird to masked and blue-footed boobies. The spectacular cliffs offer breathtaking views of the sea.
The morning begins at Gardner Bay with its idyllic sandy beach, which is perfect for swimming. While snorkeling around the small offshore islets, you will encounter colorful schools of fish and, with a little luck, sea turtles or sharks. The playful sea lions, who enjoy swimming alongside you, are particularly charming.
Alternatively, you can visit Osborn and Gardner Islands, which are among the best snorkeling spots in the region.
Activities: snorkeling, dinghy excursion, kayaking, short hike (1 km)
After lunch, visit Punta Suárez, one of the most outstanding wildlife areas in the archipelago. Along the cliffs and on the sandy and pebble beaches, you will discover blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and lava lizards, among other species.
Activities: Hiking (3 km)
Day 4: Santa Fe Island & Santa Cruz Island with Charles Darwin Research Station
In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit Santa Fe Island, one of the most diverse destinations for shore excursions in the Galápagos Islands. There are two hiking trails to choose from: one takes you to the tallest Opuntia cacti in the Galápagos, while the other leads you to land iguanas in the highlands. After a long hike, you will have the tempting opportunity to swim in calm waters or snorkel with playful sea lions.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling
In the afternoon, you will visit the Fausto Llerena Breeding Station, also known as the Charles Darwin Research Station. It consists of an information center, a museum, a library, and a turtle breeding station. At the breeding station, you will encounter turtles of various subspecies that are being prepared for reintroduction into the wild. The most famous resident of this station was Lonesome George, who died in 2012.
Later, you will continue to the highlands of Santa Cruz, where you will encounter the famous Galápagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat – those majestic animals that once gave the archipelago its name. You can also observe finches and other native birds among the rolling hills. The tour concludes with an exciting hike through lava caves, whose enormous rock formations impressively demonstrate how volcanic forces created these islands.
Activities: Hiking
Day 5: South Plaza Island, Baltra Island, and Bartholomew Island
In the morning, South Plaza Island awaits you with its unique vegetation of Sesuvium plants and Opuntia cacti scattered across the landscape. Here you will experience some of the best wildlife viewing in the Galápagos: land iguanas doze comfortably in the shade of the cacti, waiting for a juicy prickly pear to fall to the ground.
After a brief stop on Baltra Island, where new passengers board, you will reach Bartolomé Island after lunch. A climb rewards you with a spectacular panoramic view of Sullivan Bay and the famous Pinnacle Rock. A fascinating underwater world awaits you off the beaches below the striking rock – and with a little luck, you will be accompanied by penguins while snorkeling.
Activities: Dinghy trip, snorkeling, and hiking (1.2 miles)
Day 6: Floreana Island with Devil's Crown / Cormorant Point, Mirador de la Baronesa & Post Office Bay
In the morning, you will first explore Devil's Crown, a sunken volcanic crater, only a small part of which protrudes from the waves like a crown. Beneath the surface of the water, a colorful world of coral reefs and rich marine life awaits you. Due to its exposed location in open waters, numerous seabirds can also be observed here.
Alternatively, visit Cormorant Point, where you will land on an extraordinary beach with green sand. After a short walk of about 100 meters, you will reach a lagoon where flamingos live.
Activities: Dinghy trip, snorkeling, and hiking
In the afternoon, the Mirador de la Baronesa in the north of Floreana is on the agenda. The ascent is easy to manage thanks to steps that have been built, and offers beautiful views. Your local guide will tell you the mysterious legend of murder and intrigue surrounding the Baroness.
Or visit Post Office Bay with its legendary mail barrel, which whalers once used to deposit their mail—a tradition that continues to this day.
Activities: Short hike (less than 1 km) & snorkeling
Day 7: Santiago Island & North Seymour Island
In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit Chinese Hat, a small islet off the south coast of Santiago that rises only about 52 meters above sea level. Although the island is not far from Santa Cruz, it is still a real insider tip.
Activities: hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, dinghy excursion
In the afternoon, you will explore North Seymour, a flat island north of Baltra that was formed by the uplifting of submarine lava formations. Covered in low scrub, the island is home to the largest colony of magnificent frigatebirds in the Galápagos. Numerous blue-footed boobies also live here. With a little luck, you may even see their elaborate courtship dance.
Activities: hiking, snorkeling, dinghy excursion
Day 8: Santa Cruz Island & Disembarkation on Baltra Island
After breakfast, another special highlight awaits you: Black Turtle Cove on the north coast of Santa Cruz. Here you can see how mangroves create their own unique underwater world. Three different species of mangroves grow from the shore far into the lagoon, which stretches almost two kilometers into the interior of the island.
In the dinghy, you glide almost silently through the calm waters, watching eagle rays and stingrays glide elegantly beneath you. Whitetip reef sharks dart past, while Pacific sea turtles surface to breathe. Pelicans, herons, and egrets search for food here. This peaceful bay exudes a special tranquility – the perfect end to your Galápagos expedition.
Activities: Dinghy trip, snorkeling
Afterwards, the transfer will take you to Baltra Airport, from where you will board your return flight to mainland Ecuador.
PLEASE NOTE: The daily programs described here are for your guidance only. The itinerary may vary due to local weather conditions, last-minute permit procedures, and organizational requirements. The expedition leader on board will determine the final itinerary and daily program. Flexibility is of utmost importance during our expedition-style voyages.
