For solo travelers or travelers using single cabins, it is not always easy to find a suitable Antarctic cruise at reasonable prices. Some cruise lines charge a 50–100% single cabin supplement. This does not have to be the case, especially for such a unique experience as an Antarctic cruise.

What's it like to explore Antarctica on your own?
Today, expedition ships are no longer designed exclusively for couples. On many of our ships, you’ll find as much company as you’d like—and just as many places to retreat to: the restaurant, bar lounge, library, or open deck areas invite you to socialize or enjoy some time alone, depending on your mood.
On expedition trips, connections often form naturally: landing together on the mainland via Zodiac and the expedition teams’ presentations often provide the first opportunity for conversation among fellow travelers.
You decide for yourself how much social interaction you want and how much time you want to spend relaxing. We'd be happy to advise you on which ship and cabin option best suits your preferences.
Do all ships have private cabins?
No. Single cabins with a single bed are available on ships such as the MS Ultramarine, MS Ushuaia, MS Magellan Explorer, MS Ocean Nova, MS Ocean Victory, and MS Ocean Albatros, among others. On other ships, such as the MS Plancius, MS Ortelius, MS Hondius, or MS Sea Spirit, single occupancy is only possible in a double or multi-bed cabin.
How much more do I have to pay for a trip on my own?
Nothing, if you share a two-, three-, or four-person cabin with other passengers of the same gender or book one of the single cabins with a single bed (see table above)—both options are available without a single cabin surcharge.
If you'd prefer to have a shared cabin all to yourself, there is a surcharge of 50–100% of the per-person rate for double occupancy, depending on the ship.
Do I have to share a cabin if I'm traveling alone?
Not necessarily. You have three options: share a two-, three-, or four-bed cabin with people of the same gender; book a single cabin with a single bed (on ships that offer this option); or book a double cabin for single occupancy for an additional fee.
Who will I share the cabin with if I book a shared cabin with other passengers?
You will be accommodated with guests of the same gender in the cabin category you booked. The nationalities of your fellow travelers may vary.
In any case, you'll probably spend a lot of time off your cabin while on board—for example, during Zodiac shore excursions, in the restaurant, or on deck.
