For lovers of trekking and hiking in rugged nature, this is the perfect road trip. Between the high mountains and majestic glaciers, you can quickly recharge your batteries.

With a rental car, you can explore and hike through the natural beauty of southern Patagonia at your own pace. You will drive along famous scenic roads to legendary trekking paradises such as Los Glaciares National Park with the famous Perito Moreno Glacier (photo), the Fitz Roy mountain range, and Torres del Paine National Park.

To enter Chile from Argentina, you also cross the Andes.

Please note: currently no border crossing possible with rental cars

This trip is a customized trip that we plan just for you. We are happy to adjust the rental car category, accommodations, route, and duration to suit your needs.

Arrival: We will be happy to provide you with a personalized quote including flight arrival and departure.

Pre- and post-program: Extend your trip a little longer. Other destinations in Chile and Argentina, such as Buenos Aires & Santiago de Chile, Northern Patagonia, and the Pampas await you!

Entry requirements: German citizens need only a passport (valid for at least 6 months after their return date) to enter Argentina and Chile.

The trip is not recommended for people with limited mobility.

Torres del Paine National Park: The "Towers of the Blue Sky." Covering an area of 2,420 km², it is crisscrossed by mountains up to 3,000 m high, glaciers, fjords, and large lakes, and is home to a diverse wildlife, including guanacos, Darwin's rheas, Andean condors, and many smaller bird species.

10-day rental car tour from/to El Calafate

Day 1: El Calafate
Upon arrival in El Calafate, transfer to the car rental office. Pick up your rental car and drive to the hotel.

Day 2: El Calafate – Perito Moreno Glacier – El Calafate (approx. 160 km, approx. 2 hours)
Use the day for a trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier with the opportunity to go on a "mini trek" on the glacier (mini trekking only for ages 10-65, booking should be made in advance through Miller Reisen).

Day 3: El Calafate – El Chaltén (approx. 220 km, approx. 3 hours)
Continue along the emerald green Lago Viedma to El Chaltén at the foot of the Fitz Roy massif. On the way, there is the opportunity to hike through the "petrified forests."

Days 4-5: El Chaltén
Opportunity for various hikes of all levels of difficulty, e.g., to Laguna de los Tres or Laguna Torre with incredible views of Cerro Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and various glaciers.

Day 6: El Chaltén – Torres del Paine National Park (approx. 490 km, approx. 7 hours)
Today you will complete the longest stage of your journey, heading south across the border to Chile and into Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 6 Hiking in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
Experience Bigodi Wetland Sanctuaryon a hike with various primate species.

primate hikeExciting hike with a nature guide through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This ecotourism project offers the best opportunities to observe wet-nosed primates: black-and-white and red colobus monkeys, mangabeys, red-tailed and full-bearded guenons, baboons, and many more. Then continue your journey to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the panoramic view from your safari accommodation, designed with attention to detail and featuring private outdoor showers.

Days 7-8: Torres del Paine National Park (approx. 50 km)
Discover Torres del Paine National Park on a hike and/or take a tour of the park with various stops for shorter hikes.

Drive across the border back to El Calafate. Return rental car.

Transfer to the airport (without guide).
