Along remote river courses such as the Napo River, you will encounter landscapes that are unique in their biodiversity. Pink river dolphins, giant otters, and an impressive array of exotic birds accompany you on your journey across the black water.

Excursions through dense rainforest, guided night walks, boat and kayak tours through quiet tributaries of the Amazon give you direct access to this untouched region. Optionally, you can deepen your nature experience with glamping under the open sky (at an additional cost). From an elevated observation platform that rises far above the jungle canopy, you can take in the dimensions of the Yasuní, Jatuncocha, and Pañacocha protected areas, which are among the most biodiverse areas in the world.
This river safari takes you to a little-traveled area of the Ecuadorian Amazon – with excellent chances of seeing endangered species such as the charapas turtle or the pink dolphin in their natural environment. Your arrival and departure from/to Quito are not included in your travel price.
Since our customers all have individual wishes for their trip, we are happy to book flights separately. Of course, the flights then become part of a secure package tour. We recommend an overnight stay in Quito to cushion any irregularities with your flight or lost luggage. We are happy to organize everything for you on request. Please contact us.
Your ship's route: On day 1, the MS Anakonda departs from Providencia and travels downstream to the Peruvian border. Over the following days, your itinerary takes you upstream with the stops described below, until you return to Providencia on day 5.
Day 1: Advance flight from Quito to Coca & embarkation
From Quito, it takes just 30 minutes to fly to Coca. From there, a motorized canoe will take you deep into the Amazon region to the MS Anakonda in around an hour and a half. After embarking in Providencia, the local guides will welcome you and give you an initial introduction to the region and the itinerary for the coming days.
Afterwards, there will be time to familiarize yourself with your comfortable expedition ship. The observation deck offers an ideal opportunity to take in the first rainforest landscapes passing by along the Napo River.
After dinner, you have the option of taking part in a guided night hike. In the darkness, you will experience the dense soundscape of the forest and, with a little luck, you will have your first encounters with nocturnal animals.
Day 2: Pink river dolphins in Yasuni National Park & visit to a Secoya community
After a hearty breakfast, you will set off by motor canoe to a sprawling river island where you can observe an impressive variety of birdlife—from eagles and sunbirds to woodpeckers. It is an ideal place for nature watching and photography.
Return to the MS Anakonda for lunch. Use the time to relax in the whirlpool, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or take in the passing rainforest landscapes from the observation deck.
In the afternoon, you will reach Yasuní National Park, one of the most untouched areas of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Here you can observe pink river dolphins, anacondas, river turtles, various species of monkeys, and the colorful hoatzin – the "stinky turkey." You will also visit the Secoya, an indigenous community, to gain insight into traditional ways of life and cultural practices closely linked to the rainforest.
Day 3: Visit to a Quichua hut & free time on board
The day begins with a visit to a Quichua family on the banks of the Napo River. Here you will experience the everyday life of this indigenous community up close for a few hours and come into direct contact with their way of life and traditions.
Back on board the MS Anakonda, you will have free time to relax on deck or in the whirlpool, or take part in a cooking class where the chef will teach you traditional Ecuadorian recipes – perfect for recreating at home later.
After lunch, you have various options: try your hand at traditional crafts, listen to a lecture on indigenous cultures, or explore the surrounding area on a kayak tour. Those who want to experience nature even more intensely can book the optional glamping experience under the open sky.
Day 4: Panoramic view over the rainforest & jungle excursions
After a relaxing morning on board, you will set off for a viewing tower in the rainforest. The platform offers an impressive 360-degree view over the treetops and the seemingly endless Amazon basin – a first-class photo spot. With a little luck, bird lovers will discover rare species here.
In the afternoon, you can enjoy a guided walk through the forest, where you will encounter numerous other animal and plant species that are native to the Amazon. Alternatively, you can explore the area from the water on a kayak tour.
The day ends with a farewell dinner on board, where you can look back on the highlights of the trip together.
Day 5: Farewell to the ship & return trip to Coca
After the last few hours aboard the MS Anakonda, it's time to say goodbye at the port of Providencia.
The motorized canoe will take youback to Coca in an hour and a half. From the port, you will be taken to the airport, where you will board your return flight to Quito.

Glamping in the Amazon rainforest
With optional glamping, you will stay in high-quality tents in the middle of the rainforest, sleep on comfortable camp beds, and be treated to culinary delights prepared on site by an experienced top chef.
In the evening, enjoy a festive dinner under the open sky. As you savor exquisite dishes, you will be surrounded by the impressive sounds of the jungle: birdsong, the rustling of leaves, and distant animal noises create an unforgettable atmosphere.
At night, you can retreat to your tent or relax and unwind in a second cozy tent. The team is always on hand, so you can concentrate fully on the peace and quiet and nature.
In the morning, you will be awakened by birdsong and the first rays of sunshine shining through the canopy. Start the day with a kayak tour along hidden river branches and enjoy the untamed beauty of the rainforest before returning to the MS Anakonda after a hearty breakfast – with memories that will last a lifetime.
