itinerary

Day 1 Lucerne
Travel to Lucerne, where your German-speaking tour guide will give you a warm welcome. A guided city tour will show you the world-famous Chapel Bridge, among other sights, before you enjoy dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel. (D)
Day 2 Gotthard Panorama Express
Today, an adventurous journey awaits you on the Gotthard Panorama Express. Your trip begins with a boat trip across Lake Lucerne from Lucerne to Flüelen. Here you will transfer from the boat to the train. The first-class panorama train takes you along the historic Gotthard route, past the church in Wassen to Göschenen and, after the summit tunnel on the south side, via Bellinzona to Lugano. Dinner at the hotel. (FA)
Day 3 Locarno and Centovalli Railway
Take the regional train to Locarno. From here, travel on the Centovalli Railway via Ponte Brolla, Intragna (the main town in the municipality of Centovalli), and the border town of Camedo to Santa Maria Maggiore, the highest point on the Centovalli Railway at 836 m. In the early afternoon, return to Locarno and enjoy some free time for a stroll before heading back to Lugano. For dinner, take a boat trip on Lake Lugano and stop at one of the famous grotti. (FA)
Day 4: Travel to St. Moritz on the Bernina Express
The Bernina Express Bus takes you from Lugano along Lake Lugano to Gandria, the border town between the Swiss canton of Ticino and the Italian region of Lombardy, then past Lake Como and through the Italian Valtellina to Tirano. Here you have the opportunity to take a short stroll through the town. Then the Bernina Express takes you from palm trees to glaciers. It climbs more than 1,800 meters in altitude. Via the famous Brusio circular viaduct and numerous tight hairpin bends, the panoramic train gains altitude and, on its fascinating mountain journey, reaches Europe's highest through station, Ospizio Bernina, at an altitude of 2,253 meters. Soon you will arrive in St. Moritz, where you will enjoy dinner at your hotel. (FA)
Day 5 Panoramic journey on the Glacier Express
Today, you will take a full-day trip on the Premium Glacier Express from St. Moritz via the architecturally unique Albula route of the Rhaetian Railway down to Chur, the capital of Graubünden. From here, your journey continues through the impressive Ruinaulta gorge to the monastery village of Disentis. Around noon, your train reaches the 2,033 m high Oberalp Pass in the canton of Uri. During the journey, a light lunch will be served at your seat in the panorama car. From the top of the pass, your train winds its way down to Andermatt in numerous serpentines. Through the 15.4 km long Furka Base Tunnel, you continue down into the Rhône Valley to Brig and Visp. The last stage takes you up more than 1,000 meters to the mountaineering village of Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn. After a walk through Zermatt, enjoy dinner at the hotel. (FMA)
Day 6 Zermatt and Gornergrat
Did you know that the Gornergrat Railway is a cog railway and has been in operation since 1898? Europe’s second-highest mountain railway takes you from Zermatt via Riffelalp and Riffelberg to the Gornergrat station at an elevation of 3,089 m. Enjoy the spectacular view of the Matterhorn and 28 other four-thousand-meter peaks! At the multimedia experience “Zooom the Matterhorn,” you’ll learn more about the Matterhorn through three different “Zoom Levels.” The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish before you’re expected back at your hotel in Zermatt for dinner. (FA)
Day 7 Mont Blanc Express and Montreux
Take the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway from Zermatt down to Visp in the Rhône Valley and continue along the Rhône to Martigny. The Mont-Blanc Express takes you via Finhaut and Le Chatelard towards France. After changing trains in Vallorcine, you will soon reach Chamonix, where you can take the cog railway to Mer de Glace or the cable car to Le Brévent. In the afternoon, you will return to Martigny and continue on to Montreux on Lake Geneva, where you will have dinner at your hotel. (FA)
Day 8 Montreux and Lake Geneva
In the morning, explore Montreux on Lake Geneva on a guided city tour. A visit to the nearby Chillon Castle is a must. Immerse yourself in the eventful history of the castle, which was built on a rocky island in Lake Geneva. In the afternoon, take the new and modern express train on the GoldenPass Line from Montreux via Gstaad to Interlaken, where dinner will be waiting for you at the hotel. (FA)
Day 9 Jungfraujoch and Harder Kulm
Today, we’re heading high up again. Your journey toward the Jungfraujoch begins with the Berner Oberland Railway. From Lauterbrunnen, the Wengernalp Railway takes over for the second leg to Kleine Scheidegg, before the Jungfrau Railway takes you on the third leg through rock and ice up to the Jungfraujoch at an altitude of 3,454 m. You’ve reached the highest train station in Europe! Experience a spectacular panorama and marvel at the Aletsch Glacier and the neighboring mountain peaks. Explore the adventure park and the Glacier Palace on the Jungfraujoch before taking the trains back to Interlaken. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take a short stroll through town. On the local mountain, Harder Kulm, you’ll conclude your adventure through Switzerland with a delicious cheese fondue. (FA)
Day 10 Return journey
Return trip to Germany. (F)
