The Arctic Hideaway

Fordypningsrommet Island, Fleinvaer Archipelago, Norway

Fleinvær Archipelago on the Arctic Circle

The Arctic Hideaway is located in the far north of Norway, on its own small, secluded island in the Fleinvær archipelago on the Arctic Circle.

The 'village' was created by composer and musician Håvard Lund as a retreat for artists and travelers. The idea behind it is to inspire guests through direct contact with the dramatic natural surroundings and stimulate their creativity. At the same time, they are encouraged to discover the art of doing nothing and experience simplicity in its most beautiful form.

It is the perfect retreat for the whole family or your best friends. You can book individual accommodations orrent the entire island for yourself.

You can cater for yourself or book a chef. Shopping is done for you (included in the price, except for alcohol).

The hideaway, with its exciting award-winning architecture , consists of ten single-function houses.

The huts made of Kebony wood stand on stilts and are secured to the rugged rock with steel cables.

Five private sleeping quarters and five communal areas, connected by spray and arctic light.

Visit the Hideaway with a group or come alone.

location

You fly to Bodø and take a charter boat or public ferry on an approximately one-hour trip to Fleinvær and the island of Fordypningsrommet. The fast ferries depart from the port in Bodø, right next to the airport. There are an average of two departures daily to and from the island. There may be days with strong winds, which can lead to transport delays and/or cancellations. Combine your trip with city life in Bodø and spend a night there before or after your stay.

activities

At The Arctic Hideaway, you can relax, admire the dramatic nature and the northern lights. On request, we can organize activities for you, such as

  • Tours to the neighboring islands
  • Fishing trips on large or small boats
  • Whale watching
  • bird watching
  • Hikes to the most beautiful mountain peak (990 m) in the area
  • climbing

Notes on the seasons:

  • The northern lights begin as early as the end of August. When they appear, the conditions are extremely beautiful.
  • Storms usually begin in November. Nature cleanses itself with the help of rain and strong winds. It's the most beautiful way to feel alive.
  • ‘Alternative light season’ from late November to mid-January. No sun, but amazing stars, moons, planets, and the northern lights.
  • From late May to early August, there is little to no darkness. Twenty-four hours of sunlight show you the variety of sun, light, and weather patterns possible on this sensitive Arctic island. Never a dull day.
