[Antarctica Wiki] Hapag-Lloyd expeditions to Antarctica entirely in German

Dec. 17, 2024General, Antarctica & South Pole, Wiki Antarctica

Greetings, polar pioneers,

Two days ago, I offered you Antarctic trips with German-speaking support. German-speaking lecturers travel with the group, giving lectures in German and answering questions from German-speaking passengers during the Zodiac excursions.

The luxury cruises and expeditions offered by the German shipping companyHapag-Lloyd are well known far beyond the German-speaking cruise-going public.

Since 2019, three identical expedition ships of the highest expedition class have been put into service, which travelto Antarcticabetween November and March during the Central European winter (summer in the southern hemisphere).

All three are rated five stars according to the Berlitz Cruise Guide and have thehighest ice class for passenger ships, PC6. This allows them to venture into more inaccessible regions—on some voyages even beyond the Antarctic Circle.

What distinguishes Hapag-Lloyd trips from those mentioned in the newsletter two days ago?

Quite simply, Hapag-Lloyd's voyages are specially designed for German-speaking travelers:

The language spoken on board is entirely German:

German is spoken everywhere, from the reception desk to the restaurant menus, the onboard announcements, the scientific lectures, the tour guides, and the expedition team, right up to the captain and the ship's doctor.

  • MS HANSEATIC nature – German-speaking
  • MS HANSEATIC spirit – German-speaking
  • MS HANSEATIC inspiration – German and English language

I am often asked whether guests need to wear a little black dress, tie, and tailcoat for dinner here. The simple answer is NO.

The dress code on board is"smart casual," because you want to be ready if an announcement is made during dinner that a pod of whales is accompanying the ship. Then it's time to quickly put on your jacket and head out on deck!

In terms ofvalue for money, I can also confirm that Hapag-Lloyd's cruise prices are absolutely reasonable when you consider the first-class facilities on board.

Of course, we will also pass on all offers to you.

Here you will find trips / offers from Hapag-Lloyd to Antarctica.
