[Travel information] Your polar voyage with the MS Plancius, MS Ortelius, or MS Hondius
Dear ice cream pioneers,
We love our classic expedition ships MS Plancius, MS Ortelius, and MS Hondius, which come from the Dutch company Oceanwide Expeditions.
Without any frills, but down-to-earth and friendly, the experienced expedition teams ensure intense and authentic experiences in the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans.
To the ship's sides:
- On the ship's side of the MS Plancius (max. 108 passengers)
- On the ship's side of the MS Ortelius (max. 108 passengers)
- On the ship's side of the MS Hondius (max. 170 passengers)

The Expedition Manual is an excellent resource for your polar journey—and we can even provide it in German. Here you will find everything you need to know about your trip, including a packing list.

Good to know
- Onboard language: English (German-speaking lecturers are present on a few expedition dates)
- English-speaking expedition team
- Onboard currency: US dollars, euros, and major credit cards
- Completing a questionnaire, medical certificate, cruise contract, and flight information form is mandatory.
- You will receive the questionnaire approximately 2–3 months before your departure.
- Rubber boots available for loan on board
- NO polar parks will be provided.
- A doctor is on board
- Open bridge
- Power supply: 220V
- Proof ofinternational health insurance with medical repatriationmust be provided.
- Individual travelers: Shared cabins can be booked.
- The trip is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
- Recommended tip: Approximately $15/€15 per person per day – preferably in cash in dollars (or euros)
