You’re already in bed when a green arc appears above the snow-covered pine trees. The heated glass roof offers a view of the dark winter sky. When the aurora grows brighter, you don’t have to go out into the cold or put your thermal suit back on.
At Aurora Village, you won’t just spend one special night—you’ll stay in a heated glass igloo in Finland for the entire duration of your trip. Depending on the package you choose, you’ll spend four to seven nights under the panoramic roof—with full board, winter clothing, airport transfers, and experiences with huskies, reindeer, and snowmobiles already included.
Aurora Village is located near Ivalo, about 290 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. The chalets and suites are spaced apart among the pine trees; from the outside, the view is of snow and forest, and from the bed, of the northern sky.
The accommodations are not igloos made of ice. You’ll stay in fully heated chalets and suites with private bathrooms and laser-heated glass roofs. This ensures that the view remains as free of snow and ice as possible, even during the Finnish winter. Depending on the category, two to six people can sleep under or right next to the glass panels.
Staying four or more nights here is a real advantage: The Northern Lights require darkness, a sufficiently clear sky, and the right solar activity. They can’t be guaranteed. However, staying for several nights gives you more evenings to observe them—and the Aurora Alert will notify you when the automatic sky camera detects activity.
A glass igloo alone doesn't make for a trip to Lapland
In the morning, you’ll first hear the huskies before the sleds disappear among the trees. On another day, you’ll take turns driving a snowmobile or follow the tracks through the forest on snowshoes. The reindeer sleigh ride lasts only 45 minutes; that’s exactly why there’s plenty of time afterward to get up close to the animals and take pictures of them.
The packages combine the glass igloo with a pre-planned winter program. Depending on your selection, the package includes a husky safari, a reindeer sleigh ride, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, a sauna, and a Northern Lights tour. Full board, thermal clothing, and transfers to and from Ivalo Airport are also included.
This saves you the trouble of piecing together individual services—and ensures that popular activities aren’t already fully booked by the time you arrive. We’ll check in advance which package and which accommodations best suit your trip duration, group size, and desired level of activity.
5 days/4 nights starting at €2,363 per person based on double occupancy, excluding flights. We do not offer single-night stays. The resort is suitable for guests ages 12 and older.

Good to know
Getting There: The nearest airport is Ivalo. The transfer to Aurora Village takes about 20 minutes and is included in the advertised packages. We can book suitable flights for you upon request.
Length of stay: The packages range from four to seven nights. We do not offer single-night stays in the glass igloo.
Northern Lights: The aurora is a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Darkness, a clear sky, and solar activity must all align.
Temperatures: In winter, temperatures can drop well below freezing. Thermal coveralls, winter boots, and other cold-weather clothing are included in the packages.
Minimum age: The resort and the packages listed are intended for guests ages 12 and older.
Activities: The schedule and execution depend on the weather, snow conditions, and safety situation. Therefore, changes are possible. In some cases, the duration begins as soon as winter clothing is distributed and the safety briefing is given.
Snowmobiles: Drivers must be at least 18 years old and present a valid driver's license. Two people typically share one snowmobile. The deductible is a maximum of €1,200 per snowmobile and accident.
Entry Requirements: German citizens need a valid national ID card or passport to enter Finland. You can find the latest travel and safety advisories on the website of the Federal Foreign Office.
Insurance: We recommend travel cancellation insurance as well as international health insurance that covers medically necessary repatriation.

All four packages include several nights in the booked glass igloo category, full board, thermal clothing, airport transfers, and the Aurora Alert. They differ primarily in terms of trip duration, the range of activities, and the amount of time set aside for more relaxing days.
ARCTIC PACKAGE 5 days / 4 nights
Four nights give you four potential evenings to see the Northern Lights. During the day, you’ll experience the top winter activities: huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The Arctic Package is perfect for travelers who want to explore Lapland in depth over five days.

Hiking in Urho Kekkonen National Park, 3–3.5 hours
You will travel by minibus from the village of Aurora to Saariselkä and hike up into the fell region of Urho Kekkonen National Park. It is Finland's second largest national park and encompasses the fell areas of Saariselkä and the forest areas of the northern parts of the municipalities of Savukoski and Salla. Like true Finns, you can celebrate the traditional way of sauna bathing here. The small, wood-fired sauna for four people is located right by the river and has a hole in the ice layer so you can dive into the ice-cold water. There is no running water in the sauna – only water from the river. We kindly ask you to help protect our environment and our water by refraining from using shampoo, soap, or other detergents in this sauna. Thank you very much!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see the Northern Lights from my bed?
Yes. Depending on your accommodations, the bed may be located directly beneath a heated glass roof. Whether the Northern Lights appear, however, depends on cloud cover and solar activity. We explain what happens in the sky in our article , “Everything You Need to Know About the Northern Lights.”
Is it cold inside the glass igloo in winter?
No. The chalets and suites are fully heated and have private bathrooms. The windows are also heated to ensure that snow and ice interfere with the view as little as possible.
Can I book just one night in the glass igloo?
No. The trips we offer include four to seven nights, full board, transfers, and a winter program. We do not offer a single night in an igloo.
When is the best time to visit?
December through March are particularly well-suited for a trip focused on winter activities. December and January have very short days; February and March combine dark nights with significantly more daylight. For more planning tips, see our travel advice for a Northern Lights trip to Finland.
Which airport is the closest?
The nearest airport is Ivalo. The drive to the resort takes about 20 minutes.
Is there a guarantee that the Northern Lights will appear?
No. No resort can guarantee this natural phenomenon. However, staying for several nights increases the number of evenings when you might be able to see it.
What kind of lodging is best for couples?
The 28-square-meter Aurora Chalet is usually sufficient for two people. If you'd like a separate living area or more space, you can choose an Aurora Tower Chalet.
Can families live in Aurora Village?
The resort is suitable for guests ages 12 and older. The Sky Suite and Tower Suite can accommodate up to six people and feature separate sleeping areas.
Are winter clothes and meals included?
Yes. The advertised packages include full board and thermal clothing. Beverages are included only if they are specifically mentioned in the description of the service. Our packing list for the Northern Lights trip lists everything else you should pack yourself.
How far in advance should I book Aurora Village?
We recommend planning early for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and the highly sought-after weeks in February and March. Certain types of accommodations are available in limited quantities. Outside of these periods, there may still be options available on short notice, which we will review on a case-by-case basis.
Can Inventia book the flights?
Yes. Upon request, we can arrange flights to Ivalo, seating assignments, any necessary overnight stays, and all connections to match the resort package.
